<p>Days after signing 2024 Centennial LB [player_tooltip player_id='274702' first='John' last='Sierra'] to a letter of intent, New Mexico offered 2024 Lovington ATH <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='275595' first='Demarcus' last='Thompson']</strong> a preferred walk-on opportunity.</p>

<p>New Mexico wide receivers coach Micah Simon extended the PWO offer to Thompson. </p>

<p>Thompson was a two-way standout for the Wildcats and helped lead them to the Class 4A championship. He led the state in receiving yards with 1,179 on 62 receptions, averaging 19.0 yards per catch. Defensively, he finished with 71 tackles and a staggering 37.5 TFL, which led the state. He also led the state in sacks with 18.5.</p>

<p>Thompson has been offered by all three Division 2 teams in the state: Eastern New Mexico, New Mexico Highlands and Western New Mexico along with Wayland Baptist University and Bethel College. </p>
