Continue ReadingWent into this not knowing too much about hardly any prospect in attendance. I knew Terrell Mitchell Terrell Mitchell 5’8″ | 185 lbs | RB Somerville | 2025 State NJ was a name to know, but in terms of skillset, I was coming into the camp blind. This is usually the best way to evaluate kids, without prior biases. Somerville’s Terrell Mitchell Terrell Mitchell 5’8″ | 185 lbs | RB Somerville | 2025 State NJ blew me away from start to finish.
Getting a look at him through Indis I could tell via build and body language that this was a kid to keep an eye on. Indis usually provide kid’s with positional tips from college coaches, yet I saw Mitchell navigate drills with ease, all the while being coachable and attentive to detail. Nothing was too big for this kid, yet he took every rep seriously despite being the alpha of the group. Won every rep during 1v1s, you can see the twitch/burst in his lower body off the snap, he used it to draw the attention of LBs early. Fantastic reader of leverage on the fly, Mitchell consistently lost his matchup while separating after the stemming his routes. Seasoned, 1v1s were a breeze. Despite his muscular, toned-out build, Mitchell flashed hands and separation skills during 1v1s. He would have been a tough cover for the DBs in attendance too. One of the best backs I’ve had the pleasure of covering, that’s including my PA events. Mitchell currently holds an offer out of Boston College, watch his FBS offers count up in time.
A back who caught my eye early, was second to Mitchell in terms of who caught my eye first. 5’7, 195, ton of energy and enthusiasm throughout Indis. Could have reeled in more balls during 1v1s, but having backs catch the ball doesn’t always paint the best picture. I was more interested in seeing how Flecha moved in space before reaching the stem of his route. Burst off the snap, how quickly does he get to the hash, is he balanced all the way through the completion of his route. He’s heavier than his build implies, I would never have guessed he was about to push 200 pounds watching him work through drills. I named him one of five top performers.

I’ve got a feeling that Derrick Henderson Jr Derrick Henderson Jr 5’8″ | 215 lbs | LB Westside | 2027 NJ . provides some of the better tape of anyone on this list. I’m guessing of course, what leads me to believe that? Henderson showed up to flash running back skills, that he did. Yet first thing that I see is his weight. Don’t mean that in a demeaning way, the young freshman is already pushing 220. 220 but the kid was absolutely losing kids left and right during 1v1s. Again, he’s got some baby fat that most likely helps him provide quality reps at LB with pads. If he’s moving and catching the ball like this at this weight and age, I can only imagine what he’s capable of at LB on tape. Consistently, opposing LBs would take Henderson lightly, just for him to run past or juke LBs out of their cleats. He left a lasting impression on me. Fantastic hands as well.

Probably would have won MVP if Terrell Mitchell Terrell Mitchell 5’8″ | 185 lbs | RB Somerville | 2025 State NJ wasn’t in the building. That’s a hell of a compliment considering how well Mitchell did. Crew Davis Crew Davis 6’0″ | 200 lbs | RB Iona Prep | 2026 NY , a sophomore out of Iona Prep, jumped a 9’5 Broad which has to place close to the top of the entire camp. One look at the cuts in his lower body and you’ll understand how hard this kid trains in and out of season. I’d be willing to bet the explosion in his lower body shows up on tape, whether that be seen when jump-cutting or fighting for extra yards. I’m unfamiliar with recruiting trends up North, but I imagine someone important has their eyes on this young man. He’s apparently a two-way player too. Again, much like Terrell, what stood out during 1v1s was this kid’s acceleration skills. You can witness Davis hit another gear when running wheels/seams. Great hands too, kid didn’t win every single rep but man I trust his hands after watching him work. I might be taking over rankings up in New York with Caleb Holfoth now with Syracuse, I’d bet Davis places well.

I don’t think I showed this young man enough love post-camp. Might be the most consistent back at the camp, what you see is what you get type of prospect. Build is a toned-up one, cuts in his arms and legs, slight in terms of overall weight. Weighs under 150 so you’d expect him to zoom throughout 1v1s. Excited finding out he’s just a sophomore. Watching him operate during indis has me feeling like he could excel at WR or even DB. I’m not too familiar with Walt Whitman HS but I imagine Henderson would dip into other positions considering the skillset put on display at this camp.
Luke Gialanella Luke Gialanella 5’7″ | 160 lbs | RB Pope John | 2027 State NJ caught my eye first and foremost because I recognized him after attending several PRZ Next camps with Al Pops in New Jersey. Seeing him grow up a bit and work with the HS kids is awesome to see. I do want to note that he didn’t just compete with this group, he was arguably a Top Performer looking back. Gialanella had a cut-up build years back, good to see he’s prepped his body well for HS ball over at Pope John XXIIII. Love this kid’s balance and burst. Probably the best quick twitch and change of direction skills of anyone on this list which is saying something. I haven’t taken a peek at what he did as a freshman over at PJX, but I’d bet he’s a tough tackle in open space. Hopefully we get to see the guys in NJ rank him this coming off-season. I’d put my money on that.

Quiet demeanor, unassuming athletically, yet St. Joseph Academy’s Jayden Holt-Grandy Jayden Holt-Grandy 5’10” | 180 lbs | ATH Absegami | 2027 NJ is worth mentioning in this piece. Good overall build, no crazy numbers that stick out from the combine portion of the event which is okay. I liked how he moved during 1v1s, despite everything I’ve said, Holt-Grandy consistently got open against his LB matchup. I had no idea he was a freshman up until the posting of the piece. Solid prospect.

Kyle Wise Kyle Wise 5’11” | 175 lbs | ATH St. Peter’s Prep | 2027 State NJ was in MVP talks for a while until some untimely 1v1 drops had me looking elsewhere, that’s about all the negative I have to say concerning this young man out of St. Peter’s Prep. Fantastic build, 9-foot broad as a freshman and narrowly ran a sub 4.7 40 to boot. I didn’t even need the combine numbers to understand this young man’s athletic ceiling. We might’ve not had a more athletic back or linebacker outside of Kyle Wise Kyle Wise 5’11” | 175 lbs | ATH St. Peter’s Prep | 2027 State NJ . If I had to pick anyone tape to watch after this camp, it would have been Kyle Wise Kyle Wise 5’11” | 175 lbs | ATH St. Peter’s Prep | 2027 State NJ for me. Yes, the camp accolades eluded him, but I’m more concerned with Kyle Wise Kyle Wise 5’11” | 175 lbs | ATH St. Peter’s Prep | 2027 State NJ the football player. I’d bet this kid could play WR/DB on top of providing quality reps at back if need be. If we are talking real, padded football, this young man would certainly draw my attention more than most on this list. I don’t know much about how he will place in terms of rank, I have to imagine he’ll impress the scouts ranking NJ athletes. He would place high on my lists.
