I saw a ton of good LB play this season, and this piece will focus on just 5 of them that really impressed me!
Jaden Edington
Jaden Edington
In my eyes, Jaden was really the star of this Corunna defense. It seemed like every time they needed a big defensive stop, it was him flying in and making that stand. He has that clutch gene you just can’t teach. Even against some of the best competition, he really shined. His lateral quickness is elite, and he is great at wrapping up and not arm tackling. His ability to take over a drive is a rare trait that very few possess. I would love to see Jaden get a shot at the next level because I think he could do really good things.
This kid delivers some of the most jarring hits I have seen from a high school player. He has an incredible amount of physicality and aggression that is very rare. He’s an elite competitor with a great passion for the game and getting better. He reads plays quickly, is decisive when he takes off and comes with bad intentions. In week 9 I watched him completely take over in the 2nd half and you heard the hit every time. I really think some D2 teams need to get after this kid because he would absolutely make a defense better.

Carter is about as “Can’t Miss” as they get. He absolutely stuck out when I saw him play as someone who is just playing a different game from anyone else. He’s an old school downhill thumper who has a nose for the ball. He has been a D1 guy all along, and now Miami Ohio is getting a great linebacker. He’s a clear student of the game with great football IQ, and he comes prepared and ready to go when it matters most. When I watched him against Rockford this postseason, he led the Davison defense to essentially shut out the potent offense, with only a kick return and garbage time touchdown at the end to speak of. This team revolved around how Carter went, and I think he displayed to everyone he is an elite LB.

Victor is a walking teach tape. Everything he does is by the book and he makes it look easy. He takes great angles on ball carriers, makes big hits, and has one of the best reaction times of any high school linebacker I have seen. The ability to diagnose the play and get to his spot is well above the norm. He just signed with Central Michigan, and they have to be absolutely pumped. I think Victor will be one of the better LBs in the MAC in no time thanks to his long list of abilities on a football field.

Us scouts have been ranting and raving about Colin for a long time. We have been calling for colleges to jump on him ASAP, and if he ends up at any of the schools that have offered him so far, it will be a steal. He is incredibly talented at rushing the passer from the OLB position, but he can also come downhill and stuff the run. He slips blocks with ease and is a sure tackler. He is physical and has really improved to become a well rounded LB. Hopefully some more late offers start dropping in for him.
