In this article, we will introduce five Alabama high school QBs to keep an eye on for the upcoming season.
Charlie Johnston Charlie Johnston 6’5″ | 190 lbs | QB Moody | 2025 State AL is a rising star QB in Texas. He has great pocket presence for a young QB. His mechanics, release, arm strength are all evaluated at a high level. He demonstrates the ability to get rid of the ball quickly, limited wasted movements and good follow through with hips to the target. Johnston’s mechanics, release combine to effectively throw a WR open & are executed at a high level. Johnston’s ability to hit the open window allowing his WR an opportunity for an easy catch and run is demonstrated on video. Johnston’s posture, mechanics & follow through are executed at a high level.

Pelzer Reaves is a very good prospect. Great physical size and athletic ability. His maturity in the pocket, poise and ability to extend a play and work in the pocket are impressive. *Very good recruit! Reaves’ ability to throw to the open window with a very catchable ball and in a position to max RAC is impressive. Dave’s mechanics, transition from back foot to front foot combined with his accuracy are all being performed at a high level.

Brogan Gross
Brogan Gross brings an athletic, physical presence to the position. He is very comfortable running the Spread offense at Athens, He is a very effective ball handler, executes the RPO at a high level and demonstrates the ability to throw a WR open. He is athletic to extend a play presenting difficulties for a Defense. Good recruit! Gross definitely has the ability to make the throws needed to stress a defense. He is effective with his vertical throws giving his WR’s a chance to go get the ball. His ability to fit the ball into windows on the crossing routes and throw the deep out visible on film. Good QB!

Bryson McGrew is an exceptional QB. His size combined with his feet, transfer, arm strength, velocity and accuracy are executed at a very high level. His ability to stand in the pocket, poised, focused on throwing a WR open to a spot as well as maneuvering in the pocket to work with protection is natural and very effective. McGrew’s physical profile, mechanics & accuracy are demonstrated on film at a very high level. Kid can “spin it”! McGrew’s demonstrates the ability to throw to open the windows allowing his WR’s to maximize YAC!

Dylan Embry is a student of the game. He is a winner! He is very talented. He demonstrates the ability to run a college spread offense with efficiency, effectiveness and explosiveness. His ability to manage the offense at the LOS, check calls and deliver are ELITE! Embry has the “next rep” mentality, always looking to the next play for his team and coaches. Embry’s ability to stretch the defense with a vertical push and give his WR an opportunity at the 50/50 ball is highly effective and transferable to the college game. Embry throws a very catchable ball with a combination of quick release, accurate and very good placement.
