Madsen is one of the top two-way players across the state, and helped Clovis North be one one of the top teams in California this Fall. He is a well-put together kid with a strong build, powerful lower half and is extremely tough to take down with the ball in his hands while looking for contact at all times. Defensively, he is a big time hitter that can scrape over the top, triggers quickly and explodes through contact while closing quickly and taking good angles in the open field. He is a violent player that should find a home at the FBS level and gather some offers this off-season.
Max Mankins
Max Mankins
Mankins and the Hughson Huskies won the state championship in 2022, and came back in 2023 firing on all cylinders until losing in their Norcal Bowl game to a tough and fast Palma team. Still, the Huskies were able to defeat Bradshaw Christian for the SJS section title crown at the D6 level, and bring back plenty of talent in 2024. Mankins can play all over the field, either as an edge player, pass rusher or at inside linebacker. He is explosive off the ball, sets his hands quickly and is a natural bender around the edge that closes quickly and can win with both speed and power. Against the run, he locks out blockers and can quickly shed while not giving up ground and quickly recognizes blocks/can take on pullers. Mankins should draw FCS and D-II interest this off-season, and is one of the top returning defenders across the central valley.
Jax Koontz
Jax Koontz
Koontz is a true second level defender with plus athleticism for the inside linebacker position and is a true banger in the box that fills quickly, has a quick trigger and is a sure tackler in traffic while able to get off blocks and run through contact. He is a high IQ kid that can sniff out screens/draws and has some cover abilities as well in the flats and downfield against bigger receivers and tight ends. He also shows that he can redirect quickly, takes good angles in the open field and plays with a low hat when moving laterally in the box. Koontz is another FCS+ caliber kid that should have a huge off-season and is one of the top returning linebackers across the central valley.
