Rodge Waldrop Rodge Waldrop 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB Brookwood | 2024 State GA QB (Brookwood/Thomasville)
Waldrop is an athlete that we here at PrepRedZone have been raving about all season. The 6’5 QB set the single game passing record for the State of Georgia earlier this season with 698 yards. One of the questions surrounding Waldrop was the level of competition that he faces in the Georgia Independent Association. He answered those questions Friday taking home the Offensive MVP trophy in the Senior Game. Very poised in the pocket and zips the ball downfield on target. Led a great opening drive in which he had to covert several 3rd and longs with good on target throws in traffic. In my opinion this guy is a steal in February. A few years in a program that has a good QB development program and we will be hearing his name on Saturdays.
Jamontez Hines LB (Carver Atlanta)
The 6’2 215 Hines was a men among boys out here Friday. Has outstanding quickness and speed off the line that makes it impossible for bigger OL to get in front of him. Aggressive tackler. Was named the Defensive MVP after totaling 8 tackles with 7 sacks. Had a great regular season at Carver where he had 22 TFL including 10 sacks. He has an offer from Union College but after his performance Friday you can expect his stock to rise.
Kendarious Brown ATH (Hiram)
Maybe he was under the radar because of his height but he proved in the Senior game he could play. Converted a 3rd and long with a nice catch out of the backfield, one in which he had to pivot his body in traffic to make the grab. Came back the next play and knocked off a nice 7 yard run with shifty footwork. Brown has a good body type with strong legs at 175 pounds with quick first step explosion. With his ability to catch the ball I could see him easily transitioning into a slot receiver at the next level. He has a handful of offers with Clarke, Savannah State and Reinhardt among those.
Jamarion Walker WR (Woodland)
Walker is another young man that may have been overlooked because he is not the tallest guy in the room but he can play when the pads come on. He impressed the coaching staff all week with his quickness and speed. Good route runner with smooth hands that is outstanding at gaining YAC with shiftiness and speed. Had an outstanding regular season playing in the toughest 5A Region in the State. He had 100 touches for 939 yards, split between rushing and receiving, with 11 TDs. Received a post camp offer from Shorter University this past Summer.
Fain Barton RB (Westminster)
Only way to describe the 5’11 195 RB is tough. The 1st Team All Region 6-4A RB had a good showing Friday leading the Seniors in rushing yards with 7 carries for 44 yards. He had a 13 yard rushing TD and showed his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He had close to 1000 yards total offense this season for Westminster rushing, receiving and passing.
Other Notables:
Collin Kungu LB (Alpharetta): The 6’2 220 LB had 6 TT with 2 sacks. Has offers from Liberty and University of the Cumberlands. Good size and vision.
Zy’Kerion Tucker DT (Newnan): The 6’2 250 is a beast to block up front. He had 4 tackles with 3 sacks. Holds an offer from Point University.
Talan Shirey ATH (Darlington): Led all WRs with 4 catches on the day. Outstanding multisport athlete that can play any of the skill positions for you.
Fred Brown RB (Coffee): 5’9 227 workhorse that will run through and over you. Had 11 carries for 52 yards and had the longest run from scrimmage, 20 yards, by either team. 2023 State Champ.
Denzel Reid DL (MLK): Another guy that impressed the Coaching staff all week with his work ethic and ability. Athletic 5’11 270 that led the gold team in tackles and added a sack.
