Signing Day is in the books! At least the first Signing Day of the recruiting process. Despite seeing so any kids announce and sign to their future homes we still have a strong collection of talent that are looking for their own home at the next level. We breakdown a few of those studs still looking for home, here. Let’s get it started!
Mako has himself well entrenched as one of the most versatile prospects in IL. The 5’11” 185 lbs senior can make an impact on either side of the ball at the next level. On defense, Mako fits the requirements of a DB. He has the range to easily cover ground and play in space. The senior is quick to read and recognize. His change of direction is smooth and he has a closing burst that he turns into impressive hit power at the point of contact. On offense it is all about Mako’s speed, vision, and elusive running style at RB. Those three traits combine to make him a nightmare to contain when he gets around the edge. Don’t sleep on the stud difference maker.
Teams looking for an RB who can grow into an every down role need to check out HJ Grigsby. The 6′ 180 lbs senior has a frame that can continue to fill out at the next level in a college weight room. His game tape shows every down traits. He can run tough, behind his pads, and with good balance between the tackles. Out in space the senior can shake defenders with cuts, jukes, and start/stops. Grigsby also is a natural on the receiving end of passes. He catches the ball with soft hands, and is a mismatch if a team puts an LB on him. Check out the kid’s tape.
Highlights
This dude checks off a lot of boxes you look for in a high end OL prospect. He has a towering 6’4″ 280 lbs frame. It is packed with power and the mean streak to go with that power that results in Kaden throwing and driving DL wherever he wants them to go. When the senior clamps those massive mitts onto his man there is no getting away. The big fella has quick feet and a strong base that stays square under his body so he always can access his full power while driving off the line in the run game or stuffing edge rushers with his anchor in the pass game. The massive prospect is quick and agile out of his stance. He can maneuver his body to be in position to have the leverage advantage. He is a special talent with size, power, agility, and mentality for D1 football.
Maurice is a dominant mismatch on tape. The 6′ 170 lbs WR has developed highly effective traits for the next level. He is quick off the line, and also explodes out of sharp breaks in his routes. Those route breaks or head fakes allow him to quickly open up a lot of separation. Maurice can also win with speed. He takes the top off the defense and can pull away in the open field. After the catch, the slot WR is elusive and finds blocks to utilize. The senior has speed, route running, and ball tracking to be a player at the next level. Don’t sleep on him.
