We’ll be highlighting 5 backs that I like, and who I would compare them to on Sundays.
AJ Hill AJ Hill 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Davison | 2025 State MI , Davison: When I watch AJ, the first comp I come up with is Jahmyr Gibbs from the Lions. He isn’t a big bruiser type, but more of a burner who can turn on the jets and pull away from anyone. He’s also dual threat as he has no issues catching the all out of the backfield when asked to. He is about an inch taller than Gibbs and a little bit thinner, but as he continues to work, I think he will end up in the same ball park weight wise. All in all I think this is his closest comp right now.
Kayden Forbes Kayden Forbes 5'8" | 180 lbs | RB West Ottawa | 2025 State MI , West Ottawa: Kayden has a couple traits that remind me a lot of Kenneth Walker of the Seattle Seahawks. He’s incredibly patient, follows his blocks, and has the vision to find the smallest bits of daylight. Forbes also has the great ability to improvise when he gets to a hole and it closes. He has no problem backing up a step and reassessing. Typically he can bounce it to the next hole or reverse field and catch the defense sleeping on their assignments when they don’t stay home. I’m very high on Forbes and think he has a very high ceiling.
Jace Clarizio Jace Clarizio 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB East Lansing | 2025 State MI , East Lansing: Jace has the explosiveness and quick burst to remind me a bit of Reggie Bush. He has really good vision, can bounce off tacklers when needed, or can just flat out burn by tacklers. Once he gets to the second level, he makes 1 cut and pull away. He’s an absolute workhorse that can carry a high volume and be very productive. Jace is one of the best RBs we have in the state right now, and I love the trajectory he’s on, as I think he could be very comfortable at a P5 school before it’s all said and done.
Alexander Guadagni Alexander Guadagni 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Canton | 2025 State MI , Canton: This kid seems to have an Austin Ekeler type of game. He’s an instinctual runner who can find open gaps, or he can put his shoulder down and make things happen the difficult way. The same way Ekeler is willing and able in the passing game, Alexander is the same way. He won MVP at the PRZ Michigan Showcase and when he was doing 1 on 1 drills against DBs and LBs, he was a man beater. I really love the way he plays and think he is in for a HUGE season in 2024.
Chase Battani Chase Battani 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Almont | 2025 MI , Almont: This one was tough for me. After all that I watched, I think a fair comparison would be like a Miles Sanders. I love the way he can carry it between the tackles, and get a ton of yardage just on 2nd efforts. He doesn’t go down on first contact and will break any arm tackles thrown his way. You really have to wrap him up at the legs or he will keep them moving for extra yards. He’s athletic enough to make you miss, but really thrives putting his foot in the ground and getting upfield.
