Now that the state playoffs are wrapping up, we are now at the time where a state champion will be crowned for each classification. I will be taking a look at each of the matchups and seeing who might be crowned champion! Here is the 2A class.

Tumwater HS - 13-0

Tumwater's offense is fight powered. They have scored 50/60 points 9 almost 10 of the 13 games they have played. They have beaten a very tough North Kitsap team, twice. [player_tooltip player_id='1108541' first='Ethan' last='Kastner'] has been steady all season, being a reliable player for the Thunderbirds. Kooper Clark has over 1,100 rushing yards on the season and leads the charge in this Tumwater offense that likes to run the ball out of its Wing-T formation. Logan Cole and Jaylin Nixon also have 600+ rushing yards on the season plus they are BIG up front. It's going to be a tough, hard fought game for both teams. Tumwater's defense has been solid this season with [player_tooltip player_id='693692' first='Beckett' last='Wall'] being a stable on the defensive side.

Anacortes HS - 12-0

Anacortes has been very consistent all season long. Their defense has been tough as nails, not allowing over 14 points until last weeks playoff game against Enumclaw (20 points given up). [player_tooltip player_id='205682' first='Brock' last='Beaner'] and [player_tooltip player_id='693730' first='Brady' last='Beaner'] have been leading the way on both sides of the ball for the Seahawks. Brock plays more of a hybrid LB/DB position on defense and excels. He has over 60 tackles on the season with 6 sacks. Brady is a DB who flies around the field. He has over 70 tackles on the season and 9 passes broken up. Brock is the main option as the running back on offense, having over 115 rushes for 1,000+ yards on the ground. He also has 17 touchdowns. Brady is a WR/RB combo who has roughly 1,100 total offensive yards with 12 touchdowns as well. [player_tooltip player_id='643392' first='Rex' last='Larson'] has been a fantastic leader for the offense and does a great job at delivering great passes to his targets. Rylin Lang needs to be mentioned as well for his consistent ability to haul in catches in big situations. He's reliable on the defensive side too. Anacortes is a well rounded team who can matchup well to arguably almost every team in the state.

DEVIN'S OUTLOOK:

This game is a tough one to decipher. It's going to be a close, hard fought game but that's how every playoff game is normally. Anacortes is going to pound the rock and mix in some unique plays to throw off the tough Tumwater defense. While Tumwater is going to run a Wing-T offense, an offense that Anacortes is semi-familiar with but it will still be a new style to them. Tumwater will pound the rock the whole game, that's apparent. The key will be which one of the front 7's will step up and stop the run game.

In my opinion, Anacortes just has too many playmakers who can breakout for a big play at any moment. I predicted they would win the state championship before the season began and I am sticking with it. I do think it'll be a close game, with either team being able to pull it out. I think Anacortes wins, 31-17.
