For most, this marks their final time strapping on the pads, while for others, it signifies the end of one chapter and the start of another. Regardless, the outcome will be shaped by those in the shadows – the ones making crucial plays and serving as the X-factor. This weekend, keep an eye on one player from each team that I’ve singled out as worth watching.

A standout sophomore, Catavion Taylor Catavion Taylor 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Fayetteville | 2026 State AR , shows promise with his best years clearly ahead. Not only is Taylor a reliable go-to receiver for the Bulldogs, but he also appears poised to become the future quarterback for his squad in 2024 and beyond. Taylor showcases athleticism beyond his years, consistently gaining chunks of yardage through the air and making acrobatic catches. His speed and expansive catch radius are game-changing attributes, complemented by his ‘bulldog’ mentality when contesting 50/50 balls. If Fayetteville secures the coveted state title, Taylor will undoubtedly play a major role in that success.

Jonah Knapp operates in the heart of the box like a seasoned veteran of the game. He has honed an impressive skill set, adept at plugging key gaps in the run game. His low-to-the-ground technique of avoiding blocks often leaves offensive linemen missing their mark, allowing this talented linebacker to make stops in the backfield. What truly distinguishes Knapp are his lightning-quick reactions when the ball is in the quarterback’s hands. His jumps, timed perfectly with the snap, make his play-reading abilities stand out. Knapp is a top-notch, high-IQ grinder at linebacker.
Isaiah Arrington Isaiah Arrington 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Greenwood | 2025 State AR | WR, 5-11, 153 | Greenwood | Class of 2025
With an impressive 4.48 40-time, Isaiah Arrington Isaiah Arrington 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Greenwood | 2025 State AR ‘s speed seems to transcend even that, playing more like a 4.3. Beyond being a mere go-route specialist, Arrington showcases incredible agility, effortlessly evading two would-be tacklers simultaneously. Despite being slightly undervalued, this receiver stands out as one of the more impressive recruits, leaving one to wonder why when they set eyes on him—or attempt to, given his blurring speed. Arrington is a true game-changer for Greenwood, capable of delivering substantial momentum-shifting plays.

Kyrick Fulks Kyrick Fulks 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Little Rock Parkview | 2026 AR | WR , 6-1, 170 | Little Rock Parkview | Class of 2026
Kyrick Fulks Kyrick Fulks 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Little Rock Parkview | 2026 AR is a true YAC (yards after contact) machine, and it’s a challenge to find a receiver who runs with as much determination through weak arm tackles and solo defensive efforts from smaller defensive backs. Notably, Fulks’s route running stands out, particularly impressive considering he’s a 2026 player. He already demonstrates a keen understanding of playing on defenders’ angles, using them to his advantage as he enters and exits his route cuts. Despite being slightly overshadowed by other elite talent on the Patriot roster, Fulks is a home run hitter, and his absolute talent should not be overlooked.
