The 2023 playoffs have trotted out phenomenal backs this year in all sizes and styles of running. Let's take a closer look at four more back who have been getting it done.

School: Humble Summer Creek

Avant has been a workhorse for the Bulldogs throughout the playoffs. During a 52-15 pummeling of Stratford, Avant showed the patient running style that always ends with the consummate burst to daylight that has landed him a stat heavy senior campaign. Avant has eclipsed the 1,500-yard and 20-touchdown milestones. He had 108 yards as part of a 320-yard rushing attack for Summer Creek in an area win over Clear Creek. Avant had 15 carries for 150 yards and two touchdowns in one half of action in bi-district. He is one of the hottest names for running backs not just in Texas but the country.

School: Needville

[player_tooltip player_id='286403' first='Da'Shawn' last='Burton'] carried the ball 24 times for 109 yards and averaged 4.5 yards a carry resulting in 1 touchdown against Kilgore! Burton was a steady engine and a man amongst boys at times but in the end Kilgore's unified efforts prevailed in the final score of 35-14. This didn't take away from Burton's talent being on display. Burton has been a force of nature for the Bluejays this season, racking up 2,350 yards and 35 touchdowns. He has reached the 100-yard mark in all but one game this season, including last week's 52-28 area win over Lumberton in which he tallied 153 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.

School: Duncanville

Duncanville put a whipping on The Woodlands Highlanders and Mr. 10.2 seconds in the 100 meters "[player_tooltip player_id='408032' first='Caden' last='Durham']"; a five-star LSU commit who is putting up dizzying statistics in the postseason had much to do with it. He was unstoppable in playoff wins over Hutto and Rockwall-Heath, scoring 10 total touchdowns. Durham rushed for 220 yards and five scores in the victory over the Hawks. This past weekend against The Woodlands, Durham lead a team effort in a runaway victory once again in Hutto to the tune of 49-21. LSU has a faster version of Deuce Vaughn in the stable.

School: Rockwall

In the 48-77 loss to Westfield, Emory is living up to his “Hollywood” nickname by never failing to answer the bell to stand in the playoff spotlight for the Yellowjackets. In postseason wins over Wylie and Waxahachie, the uncommitted senior racked up 439 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, including 270 yards on 31 carries in a thrilling 46-43 area win over the Indians. Emory has a unique straight up and down style of running the ball that makes him hiccup quick when he meets the opposition. Look for the senior to make waves at the next level.
