Check out our preview of all the action below, continuing with 6A:
Who: Grenada (11-3) vs. West Jones (13-0)
When: 7:30pm, Friday, December 1st.
What to watch for:
Grenada
The Chargers only division loss of the season was back in early November to South Panola but last week, when it mattered most, Grenada got the best of the Tigers, advancing to the state title game by winning 33-21. Running back MaCaleb Taylor has been the offensive leader in 2023 and last week was no different as he ran 37 times for over 200 yards and 4 TD’s. In addition to Taylor’s work on offense, the defense has been elite for the majority of the campaign only giving up 182 points for the year and giving up 8 or less 9 times.

West Jones
Much of the year Picayune was thought to be the class of 6A, but the Mustangs of West Jones left no doubt that the Maroon Tide was not last week by beating them 42-13. As good as the Grenada defense has been, which we just mentioned, the Mustangs statistically have been better, only giving up 76 points on the year and shutting out 6 opponents. West Jones will feature a two headed monster in the backfield between Caleb Holmes and Elijah Jones. The combo ran for nearly 300 yards last week and gives the Mustangs an elite 1-2 punch in the running game.
Key to the game:
Which defense will give? Both teams like to run the ball and are elite defending it.
