It was a game in which the Seals got off to a fast start, taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter before leading at halftime 27-7. Jersey Shore would attempt to make a second-half comeback for the ages but the Seals defense was able to shut down Jersey Shore in the fourth quarter while their offense added another 17 points in the second half.
Below, we go over several of the players who stood out for both Selinsgrove and Jersey Shore in the win.
Pastore had an efficient day against Jersey Shore. The Selinsgrove coaching staff dind’t ask Pastore to throw the ball a ton against Jersey Shore but when he was called upon to do so, he was fantastic.
Pastore completed 9-of-15 passing attempts for 175 yards and four touchdowns. An average of just under 20 yards per completion and 19.4 yards and 11.6 yards per atempt.
The senior quarterback has shown good arm strength throughout his career and the ability to put a good touch on his ball at all levels of the field. Shows a good vision of the entire field and throws the ball with anticipation.
Has put together a quality senior season, throwing for 1,387 yards, 19 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Teats has been outplaying his ranking throughout the entire season and continued to do so against Jersey Shore.
Teats was the driving force behind Selinsgrove’s win over Jersey Shore, totalign 280 yards and one touchdown across 33 carries which included an 87 yard touchdown run in the third quarter that put Selingsgrove up 36-13.
The well-built 5-foot-10, 185-pound Teats has totaled nearly 2,000 yards from scrimmage this season as well as 28 touchdowns. Teats displays exceptional vision and pateince as a ball carrier, identfying open holes and has the burst to capitalize on those opportunities on a regular basis.
Gavin Bastian
Gavin Bastian
Perhaps a junior wide receiver we need to start talking a bit more about, Bastian standing tall at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds has been a high quality passing target for Pastore and Selinsgrove each of the last two seasons.
Bastian was Pastore’s top receiving threat on Friday with six receptions for 159 yards and a trio of touchdowns.
What makes Bastian particularly intriguing is not just his solid frame but also his exceptional athleticism, making him a dynamic ball carrier in open space. His ability to exhibit strong body control and high point footballs, coupled with a knack for making contested catches, sets him apart. Bastian demonstrates remarkable physicality and balance, showcasing the capability to make catches while bouncing off defenders and would be tacklers. Keep an eye on this junior wide receiver as he continues to be an imposing receiving threat in District 4 this posteason and into next fall.
Ethan Miller
Ethan Miller
One of the top defensive performers in Selingsgrove win ofer Jersey Shore was Ethan Miller who had eight tackles including 1.5 tackles for a loss. The 5-foot-10 linebacker has 101 tackles this season including 17.5 tackles for a loss making him one of the most productive defenders in District 4 and the entire state. Plays well down hill against the run and shows the athleticism that could allow him to be used in pass coverge as well. Intriguing propsect that I’d love to watch more of this offseason.
The senior quarterbacks season came to an end with the loss but it was an admirable and quality season for the 6-foot-3 Loomis. He completed 64.3% of his passes this season for 2,133 yarsd and 14 touchdowns while throwing nine inteceptions. He has a strong arm and the accuracy at times is fantastic but he’ll nee dto be more consistent in his decision making at the next level if he chooses to explore fotoball instead of baseball.
Dathan Tyson
Dathan Tyson
The senior wide receiver had a really strong junior season recording 68 receptions for 898 yards and eight touchdowns. In his finale, he had a terrific game against Selinsgovre with nine receptions for 97 yarsd and one touchdown. Has shown upside in his career with Jersey Shore as a running back and wide receiver hich gives him positoin versatiltity at the next level. Could project well to a solid offensive piece in a D2 or D3 offense.
