The Beaufort High Eagles have been no strangers to having talented running backs in the playoffs, and they’ve got another one this year in Jadyn Andrews. The hard-nosed senior back was the difference in his squad’s first-round playoff win over Loris, putting up four touchdowns and 139 yards on 25 carries. Andrews has carried the load throughout the second half of the season and has excelled with his strength and excellent vision to follow his blocker and break tackles for extra yards. The offense will likely go as he goes as the Eagles prepare for a second-round rematch with Crestwood on Friday.

A storm is brewing in Hampton County with Mr .Football finalist Zion Dobson, but let’s not forget about that defense. Ka’Von Chisolm was dynamite again for the ‘Canes, swallowing up the Bishop England running game at home in a 33-7 victory. The former Estill product has been a revelation at the merged Hampton County program in 2023, showing his exceptional size, footwork, and tenacity to devour in the backfield on a consistent basis. He’s gotten the better of every matchup he’s faced this year – including a tremendous Woodland offensive line – making the Hurricanes a complete team to face on both sides of the ball going forward.
Jamez Way

Cross’ defense has been a tremendous story this year, but the offensive side has come along too. Jamez Way was paramount to the Trojans’ success in their SCHSL 1A first-round matchup, catching three passes for 78 yards and a touchdown while taking a 75-yard kickoff to the house. He’s a dynamic playmaker with a quick first step who has shown his vision and athleticism this year to make things happen in open space. Expect the Trojans to continue to find ways to get him the ball both on deep routes and screens going forward as they look to surprise in Class 1A.
The beat goes on for Hanahan’s Kevon Rivera, and the talented senior back made the spark for the Hawks again in round one. Rivera engineered the offense for the Region VIII-3A champs to open the playoffs with a win over Aynor, going for 264 yards and five scores on the night. His large frame at 220 pounds has been difficult to stop on initial contact this year, and he can pick up speed in a hurry with his quick legs to help break tackles and surge into the open field. Rivera’s performance will be everything for the Hanahan offense going forward behind a hard-working offensive line.
Jackson Edwards
Jackson Edwards
James Island has been the class of Region VII-4A this year, but don’t sleep on this Lucy Beckham squad either. The defense showed out in a tough matchup with West Florence, giving up just seven points on the strength of a big night from Jackson Edwards. The surging junior was a monster on the line, adding nine tackles including five from behind the line of scrimmage. He’s become an integral part of the Bengal’s sensational defense over the last few years, working hard to build up his strength and create constant pressure for the opponent’s run game. Edwards will be a key factor for Lucy Beckham against an impressive Lancaster team this Friday night.
The Trojans marched on with a dominant victory over Wilson on Friday thanks to an excellent showing from Amontrae Scott. The versatile offensive playmaker was electric on the field, posting an efficient 138 yards and two scores on just 14 carries. He also played a key role in the receiving game, adding a touchdown catch for three scores on the day. A dynamic sparkplug who has brought a relentless compete level down the stretch, Scott will be the engine of this offense as the Trojans seek another deep postseason run.
