The importance of first impressions is something that has been preached for years and with the arrival of the 2027 watchlist, I couldn’t agree more. In this series, I will be introducing you all to some of the new names from the ’27 watchlist.
Make yourself familiar with these names because I am positive we will be hearing more from them in the upcoming years.

Omaha Central’s freshman class is set to be a special one with several key contributors emerging for the Eagles. One guy who stood out immediately was running back/linebacker Kylonn Hanie. Kylonn took over as the Eagle’s feature back and ended the season with 72 carries for 472 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. I’m not sure if all season I watched an angrier runner than Kylonn. He is a very physical RB who embraces contact and has the power to plow through tackle attempts. Haynie possesses great vision and reacts quickly to what he sees, using cuts to bounce runs to the outside. He also has a ton of upside on the defensive side, showing flashes of being a major threat off the edge. Won’t be long before we start seeing Kylonn rack up some offers.
Ty Bouaphakeo Ty Bouaphakeo 5’10” | 175 lbs | QB Bennington | 2027 NE is someone we’ve been keeping an eye on since his MYFL days. Ty is a dynamic young playmaker who will be looking to continue the Badger’s winning ways. Watching Ty’s tape, it’s clear to see that his biggest asset is that he can make plays happen with his arm or legs. He’s a versatile runner who can pick up tough yards between the tackles and has the burst/speed to break away once he reaches the open field. He is super tough to bring down on first contact and usually requires a few defenders to bring him down. As a passer, Ty is very accurate, even when on the move, and does an excellent job keeping his eyes active for open targets. Bouaphakeo also stood out as an outside linebacker. Very excited to see what Ty can accomplish in this system.

Right when one Kinkaid stops terrorizing QBs for the Bulldogs, another one comes in to continue to wreckage. Kinkaid’s efforts as a freshman earned him a spot on the varsity roster as the season went on. I don’t have a ton of tape on Jake but he flashes a lot of great traits you wish to see from a lineman. He’s smart with his hand use and has solid upper-body strength to swat away linemen. Kinkaid also gets off the ball pretty quickly, which when combined with his length, allows him to win off the edge. Jake is signed up to compete at Sunday’s Stock Up Showcase so I’m looking forward to seeing how he performs there.

Part of a strong 2027 group for the Sky Hawks, Wyatt Liebentritt Wyatt Liebentritt 6’0″ | 160 lbs | RB Skutt Catholic | 2027 NE looks to be an impactful player for the next few years. Wyatt is a dynamic player who can make plays regardless of how you get him the ball. He’s an effective runner with great vision and twitchy in the open field. I also like that he can be used as a slot receiver. He already shows nice route-running ability and was able to get open with ease on several plays. Good size already at 6’0″ and 160 pounds, and will only continue to get bigger. Massive upside!
