My goal is to provide as much exposure as possible for seniors looking to play at the next level. I recently sent out a tweet (click here) looking for film submissions. Here is the first round of evals.
Cedric Roberts
Cedric Roberts
- t
- 6’1 220. Broad shoulders and noticeable definition in his legs.
- Traditional MLB build but can play each LB position and attach to line if needed.
- Reads and reacts well. Alert against the run and is able to peep through line to mirror football.
- Not a burner with great sideline to sideline speed, but he takes good angles to the football.
- Strikes with excellent pad level and follows through on tackles. Proven capable of catching ball carrier and immediately driving backwards.
- More than strong enough to engage and shed blocks.
- Power Statement: Roberts is a stout, strong, LB prospect who will hold his own between the tackles and will match downhill momentum generated by RBs. With his leverage and strength the basis of intrigue, Roberts grades out as an FCS caliber LB prospect.
- t
- 5’11 210. Strong, sturdy frame with room to add.
- Projects as RB, but most of his production came from the QB spot, where he took direct snaps and ran in the form of designed runs and some option.
- Lightning-fast accelerator. Transitions from jog around the LOS as blocks develop to full-on sprint quickly. Often overwhelms second level defenders and forces weak tackling attempts as they strain to make up ground.
- Maintains top speed for long distance. Constantly builds separation the longer he climbs each level.
- Good vision in his peripheral. Locates cut-back lanes quickly and “steps on the toes” of defenders as he makes sudden cuts, again forcing weak tackle attempts.
- Power Statement: Jordan Triplett Jordan Triplett 5’11” | 210 lbs | RB Frederica Academy | 2024 State GA is a raw blend of strength and power as a runner. He showcases excellent acceleration and locates running lanes brilliantly. Lack of reps at RB only shows high upside. Projects as an FBS RB prospect. Holds offers.
Highlights
Anthony Carter Jr
Anthony Carter Jr
- t
- Long, skinny 6’0 170. Still has a lot of physical development ahead of him.
- Has production at all three levels and as a returner.
- Possesses the speed off the line to quickly create separation on go-routes and seam shots.
- Not super twitchy. However, he will hit DBs with sequences of hesitation and shimmy to create even a little pause.
- Excels with the ball in his hands. He is a strider that pinpoints running lanes effectively, weaving without sacrificing any speed.
- For a skinner player, he plays with a physical presence. He doesn’t shy away from contact and can regain his balance quickly. As a blocker, he frequently pops DBs with the force to knock them off their feet.
- Power Statement: Anthony Carter Jr is a glider with serious speed and very high upside. He is a thinner prospect who may be a bit raw in development, but he is a threat to score on any play thanks to his ability to effortlessly create separation and shift in and out of running lanes without losing leverage on defenders. Carter grades out as an FBS prospect and still has his best football ahead of him.
Syrus Chivers
Syrus Chivers
- t
- 5’9 175. Scat-back type build.
- Extremely versatile. Has production as a returner, receiver, and a runner. Has played DB as well.
- Good speed and playmaking ability in space. Given the ball frequently on options, sweeps, and screens to get him out on the edge. Possesses the speed and acceleration to get the edge.
- He knows when to get north/south. Has good cut-back vision. Maintains verticality when needed, doesn’t dance himself out of plays.
- Under-control when he goes to break defenders down. Plays low to the turf and catches defenders leaning. He is sudden enough to split defenders if needed.
- Big-time pass catcher out of the backfield. Can be sent down the seam and can also line up in the slot. Could project out at WR.
- Power Statement: Syrus Chivers is a versatile scat-back who could play RB or WR at the next level. He handled a handful of roles this past year and showcased excellent vision and make-miss ability. Thanks to his pass catching upside out of the backfield and his athleticism, Chivers lands a DII grade.
Milleon McKinzie
Milleon McKinzie
- t
- Lean, projectable 6’2 200. Has noticeable length in arms and legs. Looks like his frame could hold up to 225-230.
- Rangey athlete which benefits him in coverage. Possesses the long speed to patrol a lot of grass.
- Aggressively flies downfield on blitzes. When left untouched, will arrive at the football first.
- Strikes with good pad-level when tackling and plays through the ball carrier.
- Good tackling control. Can get his arms around the ball carrier even when laying out on dives and when having to lunge.
- Mirrors the ball nicely and patrols sideline to sideline nicely. Makes ground on his shuffle and has a good understanding of when to transition to a full-on sprint.
- Not big enough right now to physically outmatch blockers, but does a good job of keeping hands off his chest by keeping his shoulders squared, extending, and bending to dodge blocks.
- Power Statement: Milleon McKinzie is an active, energetic LB with sideline to sideline speed and is effective as a blitzer. He is a savvy tackler who can dodge blocks and aggressively fly to the football. His thin, lean frame with room to grow makes his upside high. McKinzie lands an FCS grade, making him an underrated prospect worthy of late evals.
