As the competition heats up, it’s essential to keep an eye on key players who have the potential to make a significant impact on the outcome of the games. In this scouting report, we will take a closer look at some of the players to watch in the 4A semifinals, highlighting their strengths, and overall impact on their respective teams.
Musch is very comfortable in the pocket and has the instinct to step up when it collapses, or escape the impending rush. Keeps his feet aligned at all times, allowing him to deliver quickly from a sturdy base or off-platform. Shows the ability to drop his arm angle and execute passes around defenders flailing arms. Twitchy release, with pop out of his elbow, and flick of the wrist nature. Relays this into compressed throwing windows, with plus arm strength and ball location.
Highlights
Zeke Carwile
Zeke Carwile
Carwile is a good athlete with functional use in terms of twitch, speed, and change of direction. Short steps linemen to make plays on the ball carrier. Can flow sideline to sideline and wrap up backs from behind. First step and speed help him win as a designated Blitzer. Solid fluidity allows him to pick up crossers over the middle of the field. An aggressive run defender that will square up with anyone.
Jacob Cornejo
Jacob Cornejo
His greatest skill as a runner might be his jump cuts, which might be the best I’ve seen in 4A. They are always well-timed and result in a defender being avoided. Cornejo has a deep bag when it comes to his ability to avoid tacklers; he loves to use a stiff arm for those that try to come in weak to tackle him. Cornejo will turn to spin moves when tacklers try to hit him high in the open field. Cornejo can run with the best of them when he gets open space and is a threat to break plays loose with great straight-line speed. Cornejo is a very technical runner that demonstrates dedication put to his craft every time he steps onto the field.
Tristan Brown
Tristan Brown
He’s able to cover ground quickly and gain necessary depth. Brown also displays the recovery speed and athleticism to cover some tight ends in man coverage. He has fluid lateral movement skills and light feet. Brown takes advantage of his speed and stature to shoot gaps and slip through small cracks in the offensive line. He frequently shows good patience with his run fits and tracks the ball in the backfield well. Brown is patient and poised approaching tackles and displays a hot motor in pursuit.
Tae Diamond
Tae Diamond
Diamond does a great job to set the edge and uses his length to stack and shed, often closing a rushing lane plus making the tackle for a stuff. He shows great understanding and execution of run defense assignments and excels on scrape exchanges, where his explosive first step and fluid hips allow Diamond to contort his body and knife through a gap to penetrate. In addition, Diamond has great closing burst and sideline speed, allowing him to track down horizontal runs with ease.
