A huge rematch from a few weeks ago as Sabino is set to take on Mohave again, this time up in Mohave. Sabino handed Mohave their only loss of the season on a gritty, tight 34-29 game and you hoped we’d see these two face off again. Sabino secured the #4 seed while Mohave kept their #1 seed. However, Mohave has looked more dominant throughout the postseason thus far given their past week blowout 54-14 win over Blue Ridge. For a 3A matchup, these guys will feature numerous breakout players, including Army commit Jonathan Williams Jonathan Williams 6'1" | 220 lbs | ATH Mohave | 2024 State AZ and a handful of other potential D1 candidates.
Sabino
That regular season loss over Morenci was the best thing that happened to sabino, as that seemed to fuel their fire as they then hosted Mohave with something to prove, and did just that with their 34-29 victory. That game was crucial for Sabino, as they ended up posting a 7-3 regular season record with their 3 losses coming against some really tough programs which included Morenci, Thatcher, and Mica Mountain. IF they were to drop that Mohave game and go 6-4, that playoff format would’ve looked a whole lot different, and would’ve been a different energy entering the playoffs off of 2 straight losses and having a lower seed. They didn’t have a cake walk schedule either, so Sabino has continued to prove that they are a major threat to anyone they play and have the potential to bring home a title. Cameron Hackworth Cameron Hackworth 5'9" | 160 lbs | QB Sabino | 2024 State AZ has been the backbone of that team, as his dual threat ability has been fun to watch. To beat Mohave once is extremely impressive, but can they can it done a second time, in Mohave, with their season on the line? We’ll find out this week, and I expect another dog fight.

Mohave
Mohave was the ultimate powerhouse in 3A football and looked invincible all the way up until week 10. The loss @ Sabino was an eye opener to everyone, but might’ve been just what they needed entering the playoffs as the #1 seed and knowing there was a strong chance they’d see them again and get another shot at them. If you’re Mohave, you couldn’t want to play anyone more than Sabino right now. They get a shot to avenge their lone loss and take all of that momentum into the state championship. All across the board, Mohave looks like the most complete team in the state. Defensively, they will fly around and play extremely physical to take opponents mentally out of the game early. They had a five week stretch where they only surrendered 8 points total. The only other close game they had other than the Sabino loss was their 28-20 win over ALA-West foothills. They are loaded with talent from top to bottom, and you have to believe all of those guys are coming into this one fired up. We all know about standout Jonathan Williams Jonathan Williams 6'1" | 220 lbs | ATH Mohave | 2024 State AZ , but the performance of Isac Urias Isac Urias 5'6" | 140 lbs | ATH Mohave | 2025 State AZ has been off the charts. It’ll be an interesting one at Mohave this week, and I’m sure we’ll have numerous players to talk about when it’s all said and done.
