I’m COOKED.
Plain and simple. My fantasy football team is absolutely cooked. After 6 weeks, I am sitting at a gritty 1-5 record and things just aren’t looking great. On top of that, a 14-team league has left the free agent pool very bare and only offers week-to-week bandaids. So I have decided to look at the Nebraska prep players that I wish I could put in a waiver wire request for. Check out these studs that could save my flailing team.
I’m going full reload in the RB room and snagging Chadron junior Quinn Bailey Quinn Bailey 5’8″ | RB Chadron | 2025 State NE . Quinn’s monster 340-yard and 5-touchdown game in week 8 springboarded him to second on the state’s rushing charts. Bailey currently sits at 1,668 rushing yards, 124 receiving yards, and 24 rushing touchdowns which would equal to an average of 41.3 points per game… INSANE! Quinn has emerged as a threat to hit the home run ball at any given moment. It is especially impressive to watch him round the corner before cranking on the jets and accelerating past the defense. He possesses great vision to flow through his blocks. Quinn’s wrestling background is also clear on the field with his toughness and balance when taking on contact. Solid junior prospect primed for a great offseason!
The biggest downfall of my team has been the RB group which has been underwhelming (Dalvin Cook and Najee Harris were not the move I fear). Enter South Sioux City’s Tony Palmer Tony Palmer 5’11” | 195 lbs | RB South Sioux City | 2025 State NE who has been on a tear this season. Through eight games Tony has rushed for 1,369 yards, and 18 touchdowns, which totals to roughly 30 points a game in my league. After a very promising sophomore campaign, Tony has exploded onto the scene and has helped the Cardinals to a winning record so far. At 5’11” and 195 pounds with legit 4.5 speed, Tony Palmer Tony Palmer 5’11” | 195 lbs | RB South Sioux City | 2025 State NE is a complete back with a great mix of speed, power, and vision. One thing that makes Tony so special is his elite balance and ability to fight through tackle attempts. He’s very shifty and can cross a defender’s face with no problem with the ability to explode out of his cut and accelerate downfield. Big time player who will continue to make noise before his senior year.
I also want to add a solid receiver alongside Davante Adams, so picking up Roncalli Catholic’s Luke Orr Luke Orr 5’10” | 150 lbs | WR Roncalli Catholic | 2024 State NE looks like the move. The Brady McGill Brady McGill 6’4″ | 195 lbs | QB Roncalli Catholic | 2024 State NE to Luke Orr Luke Orr 5’10” | 150 lbs | WR Roncalli Catholic | 2024 State NE connection has been stressing defenses out all season. Orr has hauled in 38 receptions for 725 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, totaling an average of 25 points per game (7 game totals). Luke’s ability to get open and his surefire hands are huge reasons he’s become McGill’s favorite target. What’s really impressive about Luke is his ability to work all levels of the field. He knows how to expose the soft spots in the defense over the middle of the field and he has deceiving speed and quickness to stretch the field vertically. Luke is also a great route runner. He currently holds two offers from Northwestern College and Midland but has the talent to pick up more before the season’s end.
Did I mention I really need RB help? Ashland-Greenwood RB Drake Zimmerman Drake Zimmerman 6’0″ | 200 lbs | RB Ashland-Greenwood | 2024 State NE ‘s ability to be a threat as a runner and receiver makes him a perfect flex pick-up. Through 8 games, Drake has rushed for 1,219 yards, 20 touchdowns, hauled in 9 receptions for 215 yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns. This productivity equals out to an average of 36 points per game. When you watch Drake’s tape you see a back that is clearly too much to handle for most defenses with his 6’0″ 200 lb frame. He’s a very aggressive runner who is tough to bring down on first contact with a strong lower body that keeps him moving. Drake keeps his pads low and will not hesitate to steamroll a defender if they’re in his way. Don’t confuse Zimmerman for being a solely downhill runner either, as he flashes great twitch and elusiveness with the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. He has also shown that he is a reliable target in the passing game with great hands and the potential to pick up some YAC. Drake currently holds offers from Doane, Peru State, Midland, Northern State, and Hastings College with several other schools keeping tabs on him. Don’t wait to offer this guy!
