Touchstone Energy Bowl Breakdown: Catawba River Region Selections

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The selections for the 2023 Touchstone Energy Bowl in the Catawba River Region include an active defensive back, a speedster at wide receiver and a 1,000-yard running back who is making noise as we head towards the final weeks of the regular season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The game will be played on Saturday, December 9 at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='771038' first='Malachi' last='Marshall'] </strong>| QB | South Pointe</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Marshall stands at 6-2, 175 pounds and is fun to watch when throwing the football. He can stand in the pocket and scan the field to find the open guy. His throws have a nice touch to them and he puts it to where his guy can go get it, like on a fade for a touchdown to begin the year at Spartanburg. But don't forget about his ability to run and make people miss on the zone read. He is a hard hitter and tough to go up against in one-on-one man coverage situations. He can come up against the run and is a sure tackler who wraps up the ball carrier. Because he runs right past defenders and more times than not, he can outrun defenders for a score. Outside of that, he excels in the quick to intermediate passing game, like on screens for example. He catches it and gets up field as quickly as possible. He has a unique blend of speed and power that allows him to glide away from defenders and make good north and south progress.
