The Frogs are most definitely one of the top stories in DMV area football right now, so let’s take a closer look at some of the standout prospects from Maret’s last game against Wheeling Central Catholic!
2024 6’0 205 QB – Roman Jensen – Maret
Roman Jensen earned unanimous DMV area Player of the Week honors this week from multiple publications, and his performance over the weekend was nothing short of spectacular. With more than 400 passing yards, 5+ total TDs, and 0 INTs, it’s safe to say that Roman Jensen was the player of the week by every single measurable metric. His dominant effort led Maret clear passed Wheeling Central Catholic, with a final score of 64-28. Jensen converted on a remarkable 5/9 3rd Down conversions, as he and the Frogs simply could not be stopped whenever it mattered the most in the contest. He consistently remained calm and poised in the pocket, and he always made safe throws that benefitted his pass catchers. Roman Jensen also displayed impeccable leadership, toughness, and maturity in this game, and it’s about time that the undefeated Maret Frogs get their respect! 2026 5’10 190 RB – Isiah Williams – Maret
Sophomore running back Isiah Williams put forth a breakout performance against Wheeling Central Catholic. On his way to two touchdown scores, Williams showcased his dynamic playmaking ability, and he proved that he can be utilized as a swiss-army knife on the football field. He scored on a simple streak route lined up in the slot on his first touchdown play, and, on the second, he also caught a wide open HB Screen which he promptly ran 58 yards to the house for six. Isiah Williams deserves a lot of the spotlight for Maret’s dominant victory, and I believe that he will continue this streak of dominance for the rest of the season. He has proven to be one of the elite playmakers on this team. If Isiah Williams is on the field, then it’s definitely possible for the Maret Frogs to go undefeated this year!
2024 5’11 215 LB – Mateo Romano – Maret
The Maret Frogs defense fully imposed their will on the Wheeling Catholic offense, and Senior linebacker Mateo Romano was one of the leading forces for that defense over the weekend. Romano secured Maret’s lone fumble recovery on the day, and it was a turnover that took a lot of momentum away from Wheeling Catholic. Romano’s elite tackling ability makes him one of the best overall defenders on Maret’s roster, and he certainly needs to be looked at by scouts at the next level. Mateo Romano is in a great position to showcase his collegiate level football ability again this upcoming weekend versus Seed!
2026 5’8 155 WR – DJ Hill – Maret
DJ Hill scored the longest touchdown for either team, and it was truly a web gem reception for the 71 yard score. The highlight reel completion was also the longest play from scrimmage in the game overall, and DJ Hill made it look easy. Hill is currently on track to have one of the better receiving seasons in the DMV’s 2026 class, therefore scouts must treat his recruitment as such. It’s clear already that DJ Hill possesses next level ability at the receiver position, and his performance this past weekend proved just that. Watch out for DJ Hill to light up the stats sheet versus Seed School!
2026 6’0 215 RB – Isaac Martin Isaac Martin 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB Wheeling Central Catholic | 2026 State WV – Wheeling Central Catholic
The shining star for Wheeling Central Catholic over the weekend was most definitely Sophomore running back Isaac Martin Isaac Martin 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB Wheeling Central Catholic | 2026 State WV . Martin carried the offense on his back throughout the entirety of the contest, and he deserves the utmost recognition for playing an incredible game. He carried the ball 13 times and earned 144 yards from scrimmage with 2 touchdowns. He also added 17 receiving yards on 3 receptions. It’s clear that the Maret defense struggled to defend Isaac Martin Isaac Martin 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB Wheeling Central Catholic | 2026 State WV , and his performance is worthy of a lot of recognition from scouts in the DMV and beyond. He’s a very exciting young running back with a lot of size, and I think it’s definitely wise for scouts to keep an eye on him. He’ll look to carry-on the momentum from this past weekend’s great performance against Shadyside in two days under the Friday night lights!
