This season, Elder went 6-4 and averaged 28.3 points per game on offense while giving up 24.8 points per game on defense. Oak Hills went 5-5 and averaged 18.3 points on offense while giving up 24.3 points per game on defense. There are several great players on both teams and here are five of those players to keep an eye on during the game.
In 2023, Maddox established himself as one of the best players in the state. A starter on varsity since his Freshman year, he plays very well against the run and pass. He plays as a MLB and OLB. Against the run, he shows elite football intelligence as he reads run/pass and shows very good instincts taking the correct angle in pursuit. He plays with excellent closing speed before using his above-average play strength and explosiveness as he makes the tackle behind the LOS for a TFL. Against the pass, he quickly keys and diagnoses the play. He shows good play speed as he drops back into coverage while reading the QB. He locates the ball well in the air and shows good hands as he makes the interception.
Highlights
Liam is having an outstanding season in 2023. He plays as a DE. Against the pass, he is very quick off the ball and uses his very good length and use of hands to win battles with his hands inside before quickly disengaging from the OT. He plays with a great motor in pursuits and forces the QB to pass the ball earlier than anticipated leading to an incomplete pass. Against the run, he uses his excellent play strength to easily overpower the OT before shedding the block. He locates the RB quickly and uses his good form tackling ability to make the tackle preventing a gain of significant yardage.

Jacob is having a great season in 2023. He plays as a LT. While run blocking, he is quick off the ball and uses his excellent play strength and physical toughness to drive DL and LB off the ball creating a hole for the RB. He does a great job of finishing the block to the ground for a pancake. In pass pro, he is quick out of his stance, plays with a good wide base and keeps his feet moving showing solid bend. He effectively uses his hands and play strength to anchor negating the progress of the EDGE at the LOS giving the QB plenty of time to throw. He shows very good mental toughness as he rises to the occasion near the goal line.

Julian Harris
Julian is playing very well in 2023. He lines up at DE. Against the run, he shows solid quickness off the ball and exhibits good change of direction while in pursuit. He plays with good instincts as he takes the correct angle before making the tackle preventing a gain of significant yardage. Against the pass, he uses his very good play strength and use of hands to disengage quickly from the OT. He exhibits good play speed in pursuit and forces the QB to pass the ball earlier than anticipated leading to an incomplete pass. he plays with a good motor as he plays until the whistle consistently.
Max is having a great Sophomore season in 2023. He plays as a MLB. Against the run, he shows good football intelligence as he quickly keys and diagnoses the play. He exhibits very good range in pursuit as he plays sideline to sideline combined with great instincts and shows good form and explosiveness as he makes the tackle. Against the pass, he uses his excellent play speed to cover RB in the flat. He exhibits very good closing speed in pursuit before quickly making the tackle preventing a gain of significant yardage.
