The Red Wolves are perhaps in the drivers seat for one of the final playoff spots at 4-4 overall but 3-2 in the Cardinal District. Patriot is 5-3 overall but undefeated in the Western District, they’re playoff spot is all but sealed up win or loss. If Gar-Field can hold court Friday evening they will most likely clinch one of the last playoff spots remaining. A potential playoff preview may in the works with this contest, here are a few players to keep an eye on:
Excited to watch this young man carry the football for the first time in person, I have seen and heard nothing but good things. The conference leader in rushing yards, McCarter has broken his own school records this season as he has gashed multiple defenses and driven coordinators crazy. It is fun to watchi his highlights tape, when you do, you know he is not just a one trick pony, the junior has tremendous vision. Running track for the Pioneers as well, you can see his track speed on display on each long distant run he breaks in the open for a touchdown. He boast a 3.5 GPA and has garnered the attention of multiple FBS schools including Virginia Tech, James Madison and Ohio University. He will be a division 1 football player come Fall 2025.

Highlights
What will be a key if Gar-Field can pull the upset will be getting Herman Action Jackson going early. Before getting banged up early in their win last week, Jackson was doing just that, as he took the Red Wolves first three carries and lead their first scoring drive. One of the fastest backs in the district, Jackson can burn you to the outside and he has the vision to cut back and make the defenders look silly. If he can get going early an often, then expect a shootout in Woodbridge.
Alaric Ahrens
Alaric Ahrens
While McCarter has been outstanding, I think he would tell you himself he has the best offensive line in the Western District. He may be right as the Pioneers are big and nasty up front and it starts with Ahrens who is a force at his center position. Ahrens fires off the snap with a low base and he knows how to extend his arms to make a defender beg for mercy. One of the league leaders in pancake blocks, the 6’2 senior has just received an offer from Averett University, and I am confident more offers are to follow.

Blake Mcnabb
Blake Mcnabb
One of the conference leaders in touchdown receptions senior Blake Mcnabb is another element to the Pioneers offense you have to account for. On the year Mcnabb has brought in 5 touchdowns with 21 receptions, he is having an excellent final season. He would be great at any division 2 school, I could see him catching 50 receptions a year in the PSAC conference already. As the Pioneers season continues into the playoffs it will be interesting to see how they use him, he should be able to prevent teams from stacking extra defenders in the box to slow down his teammate McCarter.

Gillion is dynamic on offense, defense and special teams for the Red Wolves, he makes plays on all three phases of the game. He has brought back two punt returns for scores this year and 5 total touchdowns. A stout corner as well he has 1 interception that he took to the house and nearly had another one last week in their win over Hytlon. The dude is the triple package, between him and Jackson, Gar-Field should be excited about next season.
