Mill Creek
The reigning 7A champs are back and on their way to defending their crown this season. The Hawks are sitting at 9-0 and have played great in every phase of the game all year long. They’ve played a very tough schedule so far, and they’ve won them all. They’ve won close, tight games against quality 7A opponents, and they’ve shown the ability to blow teams out as well. They’re a deep, well-coached team with plenty of D1-caliber talent. More importantly, they’re winners. They’ve won big games this fall against North Gwinnett, Parkview, Cedar Grove, Norcross, and the might Buford Wolves. The Hawks are one win away from going undefeated in the regular season and setting themselves up for another legitimate state-title run.
Gainesville
After coming up just short of the 6A title last year, the Red Elephants have their eyes on the prize this season. They’re a tough, well-coached program with talent all over the roster. They’re sitting at 9-0 right now with big wins over Marist, Mountain View, North Forsyth, among others. They’ve won their last five games by more than 20 points including a massive 70-6 win over Apalachee. They have a talented senior quarterback, but it’s senior running back Gavin Hall Gavin Hall 5'10" | 190 lbs | QB Gainesville | 2024 State GA who has carried the Red Elephants offensively with his 1,259 yards and 16 touchdowns. Defensively, they’ve given up less than 10 points in five of their last six games. They appear to be one of the clear favorites in 6A right now.
Douglas County
The Tigers of Douglas County are another 6A team with a legitimate chance to win the 6A title this season. They’re 9-0 and playing their best football of the season, winning each of their last four games by 25+ points. They’ve also shut out two opponents so far this year. Offensively, the Tigers are scoring in bunches, reaching the 40-point mark five times this season. Senior quarterback Sire Hardaway has been effective and productive all year long as a senior with plenty of weapons around him. The Tigers are talented and will hope to close the regular season strong against South Paulding this Friday.
Walton
The mighty Walton Raiders may be the best team in Georgia right now. The 7A program has dominated just about every weekend this fall, beating plenty of tough, talented teams along the way. Led by senior quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski Jeremy Hecklinski 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Walton | 2024 State GA , the Raiders offense is as good as it gets across the state. They’ve blown out some really good teams this year, beating the likes of Grayson, Brookwood, Marietta, North Paulding, and several others all by 20+ points. They have D1-level talent all over the roster with a tremendous senior class that wants to end the season with a championship. They have the quarterback, the talent in the trenches, and enough playmakers on defense to get the job done. It might be Walton’s year in 7A this fall.
Rabun-Gap
An extremely talented team way up in Northeast Georgia, Rabun-Gap is where all the talent is in the area. They’re loaded everywhere, and it’s a place where college coaches can find talent in every position group. As a team, they’ve run through just about everyone in their way, averaging 166 rushing yards an game and 38 total rushing touchdowns. They’ve scored at least 42 points in their last four games, hitting the 55-point mark in three of those games. They’re a football team made of big-time athletes, and a lot of them are going to play at the next level. They’re junior class is tremendous, so expect Rabun-Gap to be an outstanding team next season as well.
