Judging from last year's crop, the receiver pool in Mississippi has gotten better over the years . There were about 7 legit division 1 receivers in that group that were top in the nation. This year is a little different as all the top guys have not emerged yet, or this class just aren't as stacked. This class is unique, though, having one guy that is top 20 consensus in the entire class, not just receiver. Some are known and others are some that I think are the top candidates that coaches will soon see and start to recruit heavily. Let's dive right in.

Thanks to Rion Young, this kid is basically a household name now in the national media after bursting on the scene. He was discovered in his freshman season pretty early; it might have even been his 8th grade year. This kid is a man amongst boys standing in at 6'3 185, and you can tell this kid is only going to get bigger and taller. He is the 5 star out the group on most media outlets and consensus top 20 player on all the major sites. The thing that makes Caleb good is his God given ability that you really can't teach. He can jump out the gym as evident when he plays basketball; always coming down the lane with monster slams. Being a bigger kid, he can actually run and his stiff arm is that of a running back. He has all the tools you look for in a big "X" receiver that plays out wide typically on the left side, so it's no wonder why every school in the nation is after him.

Dillon Alfred | Saraland High School

Alfred recently moved to the state of Alabama to join forces with some top prospects like KJ Lacey and Ryan Williams, but still going to count him as a Mississippi guy. Alfred is a technician when it comes to his craft, and he takes it serious, too. Alfred stands at 5'10 and has standout speed to go along with his precise route running. He is a very competitive kid and a no nonsense approach to the game. He is a work horse and student of the game, also. Personally saw his work ethic pay off, training with Mike Espy over the spring and summer. He was a bit raw in the beginning when I first laid eyes on him, but now watching him progress has been magical. He had a great summer playing 7v7 and on his college camp tour. He went and earned a lot of his offers in person at camps showcasing phenomenal route running.

AJ Lewis | Columbia High School

Lewis is one of them guys that just keeps getting better and better every time you see a new video on this kid. He is transitioning to playing on the outside after playing mostly slot last year being the young buck out the crew. AJ is the prototypical receiver standing at 6'2, 200 lbs, and he does not disappoint. He has the full package in his game from speed, good hands, and run after catch. He is thickly built in the mold of AJ Brown and runs through tackles in the same manner as him, also. He runs good routes and possesses the jump ball ability in his game as well. He has everything in his game; he just has to continue to sharpen his tool box and this kid will go wherever he wants to go in the country.

[player_tooltip player_id='1352382' first='Trae' last='Stevenson'] | Germantown High

Stevenson is one of the new prospects to the scene that I think is the next receiver to blow up in the recruiting cycle. He stands at 6 foot, so he has the recruitable height. He has really good speed, which is one of the biggest reasons he stands out to me. His film looks pretty good and shows how much of a speedster he is, taking shorter passes for long touchdowns. He streaks past defenders with ease, but the thing that will surprise you is his ball skills. Most speed receiver do not possess the great ball skills, but this kid has some catches on film that will "WOW" you. He doesn't have any offers yet, but some schools have been in contact with me about him. Look for a few offers to pop up for this young man. By the time his class graduates, I think he will be in the top 5 receiver conversation.

Jermarj' Bell | Northside High School

Bell is one determined kid to show the world how great he is, and he is doing a very good job of it. I would watch this kid post his highlights on twitter almost daily to try and gain some type of exposure. Guess what, it worked. He went from virtually unknown to a 3 star prospect all in a years time. He stands at 5'7, 140 soaked and wet, but do not be fooled by the size; the kid's film is off the chain. Just about every play on his highlight film is a touchdown, but not an ordinary touchdown. It's him zig zagging through the whole defense like they are standing still. The other part about this kid's game that is fascinating is his blocking skills. The man looks like a chihuahua vs a pit bull, but the smaller dog is the one that prevails in his story. Just check the film. Jermarj is behind the eight ball when it comes to being prototypical size, but you cannot tell him that. Someone will take a chance on this kid by the end of the recruiting cycle. Hopefully, way before then. He lands in the top because of true heart, determination, and skills.
