Woodbridge vs Forest Park
While Freedom has the number 1 seed in the VHSL Class 6 Region B all locked up, their are many teams fighting for the final few spots available including these two. Currently the Woodbridge Vikings (2-3, 1-0) hold the 8th and final spot due to percentage points and the Forest Park Bruins (3-3, 1-1) sit at 9th just a few decimal points away. These two schools square off Friday night at Forest Park in what should be an electric atmosphere. Woodbridge coming off their bye week, took care of Hylton two weeks ago running away with things in the second half of that contest thanks to Denzel Lambert. Head Coach Jimmy Longerbeam will look to get Lambert the ball early and often to keep the Bruins run first, clock controlling offense off the field. I will be covering this game and will have more on the matchup tomorrow. Patriot vs Gainesville
The Gainesville Cardinals have been one of the best stories in high school football this season and they look to continue their undefeated journey with their toughest test yet. The Patriot Pioneers (3-2, 3-0) come to town in a battle for first place in the Western District. The Pioneers after losing two of their first three have picked things up recently with blowout victories over Unity Reed and Osbourn Park. They will look to halt what so far has been an unstoppable offense that Coach Bruton operates for Gainesville, as the Cardinals have averaged over 43 points per contest. The Cardinals have what may be their two toughest opponents in back to back weeks with Patriot and Battlefield, will soon know if this Cinderella story is for real. Madison vs Westfield
Madison (6-0, 1-0) keeps taking on everyone’s best punch and comes out on top, that is exactly what they did last Friday with their huge win over South County. This week does not get any easier when they travel to face the Westfield Bulldogs (4-1) this Friday. Minus their loss to Lake Braddock a few weeks ago, Westfield’s offense has been humming and their defense ranks as one of the top in the state. Defensively through five games they have yet to allow any opponent to reach over 9 points in scoring, going against this Warhawks offense will sure be a test I wish I could see up close. Colonial Forge vs Mountain View
Aw you didn’t think I would miss what may be the biggest game in the state of Virginia this week did you? Two undefeated squads that stand atop of the Commonwealth District and hold the 2 and 3 seeds for Region B at this moment. The Colonial Forge Eagles welcome the Mountain View Wildcats in a game that will certainly shake up the standings for both their district and their region. Both teams should reach the postseason this matchup is focused on who will remain unbeaten and who will go home with sour feelings. Such similar settings as just last week both squads were tested in their respective wins for the first time this season. Who will come out on top, well we will know shortly after 10 p.m. Friday evening.
