Harris is a bit undersized, but is a very well built, tough, physical ball carrier that is tough to bring down in the open field. On tape, he shows contact balance, the ability to run through arm and ankle tackles and cutback abilities in the open field, forcing linebackers to over-pursue and take poor angles. Harris also shows pass catching abilities in the flats, and gets upfield quickly while able to stick his toe in the ground and gain the tough yards in space. He is a next level caliber back at the D-III+ level, and can instantly make a college roster better. Look for Harris to continue on having a successful senior season and potentially gathering D-III offers this Winter.
Cottrell is a big bruising back that looks for contact in the hole, and can gain the tough yards inside. He shows that he can break tackles in tight windows, keeps his feet going through contact and runs behind his pads while seemingly always falling forward with good lean. Although not the fastest in the open field, he makes up for it with a first level burst and never going down on first contact near the LOS. Cottrell also shows some second level wiggle/cutback abilities and rarely goes down on first contact.
Heuseveldt is an elusive runner that can play in the slot or in the backfield, and is a true receiving back that is a natural pass catcher downfield or in the flats before turning upfield. He shows a nice first level burst while able to set up his blocks in traffic and runs behind his offensive lineman in space before cutting into the open field. The senior is a very productive runner that shows elite versatility out of the backfield and is explosive with the ball in his hands while tough to cover with a linebacker in space. He is a no brainer D-III caliber player that should gather roster spot offers from D-III schools as we close in on the first national signing day. As of now, he holds one offer from Montana State Northern.
Byington is another bruising back that does his damage in-between the tackles at almost 200 pounds and holds a College of Idaho offer. He is a tough downhill runner that looks for contact in the hole, can catch the ball out of the backfield and shows some cutback abilities/can bounce it outside when needed with the speed to gain the edge on linebackers. He is a very well built kid that has played a ton of varsity reps for Meridian over the course of his career, and should be able to find a home at the next level at multiple positions on either side of the ball. He should be in line for a big night tonight as Meridian squares off in a championship game against Eagle.
