<p>Today is the day! Another day of IHSAA Class 4A Playoffs, and we have some great matchups in the southern region. This article consists of recaps from the first round and key players to watch for tonight!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Jasper (7-3) vs. Evansville Memorial (7-3)</h2>

<p>Jasper will return home for a Round 2 matchup against Evansville Memorial. These two played back in Week 1 this season, and Memorial won at home 30-13. Memorial is coming off a dominating win in Round 1 to Evansville Central 38-8. Luke Ellspermann (Jr.) WR stepped up and played QB for the Tigers last Friday. He went 12/15, 124 yards, 3 passing TDs, 5 carries, 91 rushing yards, and 1 rushing TD. The game plan is to have the ball in Luke's hands as much as possible. [player_tooltip player_id='553142' first='Alex' last='Broshears'] (Jr.) LB continues to be the heart and soul of the Tiger's defense. He ended up with 6 solos, 4 assists, and 1 TFL in the first round. On the flip side, Jasper's Senior RB [player_tooltip player_id='930631' first='Carter' last='Holsworth'] will be looking to put the team on his back and lead them to another playoff win. Carter had 102 yards and 3 rushing TDs in the win against Evansville Bosse 41-24 in Round 1. This matchup has "Game of the Week" written all over it in the Tri-State area!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bedford North Lawrence (7-3) vs. FJ Reitz (10-0)</h2>

<p>The undefeated Reitz Panthers will host Bedford North Lawrence in Round 2. Bedford is coming off a road win at Evansville Harrison 27-6 in Round 1. Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id='539961' first='Memphis' last='Louden'] is continuing to have a great season. He went 7/14, 70 yards, 1 passing TD, 8 carries, 45 yards, and 2 rushing TDs in the first round. Cal Gates (Jr.) RB is another playmaker the Panthers will have to contain. He had 17 carries, 97 yards, and 1 TD. Reitz shut out Boonville in Round 1 24-0. [player_tooltip player_id='1145959' first='Ayden' last='Wells'] (Sr.) LB and Levi Oxley (Sr.) DL led the charge for the Panther's defense. Wells had 12 total tackles on the night. Oxley ended up with 10 tackles, 5 TFLs, and 5 sacks! Reitz stuck to the ground game with [player_tooltip player_id='290469' first='Roland' last='Vera Jr'] (Sr.) WR/RB and Troy Davis Jr (Sr.) RB. Roland remains dominant for the Panthers, as he had 15 carries, 74 yards, and 2 rushing TDs in Round 1. Davis Jr carried the ball 17 times, 66 yards, and 1 rushing TD. Another great matchup is happening in the Tri-State area!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">East Central (10-0) vs. Martinsville (7-3) </h2>

<p>Martinsville will host undefeated reigning 4A State Champions East Central. Last year, these two met in the sectional championship game, and it was not close, 47-0 East Central. [player_tooltip player_id='959551' first='Brayden' last='Shrake'] (Sr.) RB is the one-man show for Martinsville. He carried the rock 36 times for 243 yards and 4 TDs in the win over Silver Creek 28-14 in Round 1. Ben Field (Sr.) DB will be busy in this game trying to keep up with East Central's high-powered offense. Ben was all over the field and had 9 solos and 6 assists in the first round. In the first round, East Central crushed Shelbyville 62-7. Everyone in the state knows who [player_tooltip player_id='189083' first='Josh' last='Ringer'] is and will be a candidate for Mr. Football this year. He had 16 carries, 140 yards, and 3 TDs in Round 1. Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id='541783' first='Cole' last='Burton'] had a solid game, going 6/9, 129 yards, and 4 TDs. The defense was led by senior LBs Brayden Rouse and Dylan Maxwell. Rouse and Maxwell both led the team with 7 total tackles. Martinsville will need many things to happen in their favor to win this one, which is why they play the games!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Jennings County (5-5) vs. Greenwood (5-5)</h2>

<p>Jennings County will travel to Greenwood for a Round 2 matchup. Jennings County beat Edgewood in the first round 46-21. [player_tooltip player_id='990347' first='Branden' last='Braun'] led them with 22 carries, 287 yards, and 6 rushing TDs! Branden will be tough to contain and take down in this one. Greenwood picked up a road win against Connersville 49-20 in Round 1. [player_tooltip player_id='541967' first='Brock' last='Riddle'] (Sr.) QB continues his outstanding season, going 9/17, 259 yards, and 4 passing TDs. Brock carried the ball 5 times for 34 yards and 2 rushing TDs. [player_tooltip player_id='1098785' first='Amare' last='Middleton'] (Sr.) WR had 3 receptions for 100 yards and 2 TDs in Round 1. Tanner Crouch (Sr.) WR was Brock's other main target, getting 3 receptions for 81 yards and 1 TD. Keep an eye out for Cooper Smith (Sr.) LB to plug up the Jennings County rushing attack. This matchup will be fun to keep up with, and see how it plays out!</p>
