<p>We are just one day away from Round 2 of the IHSAA 3A playoffs, and we have some players we need to mention. This article will contain a recap of the southern region and players to watch for this Friday. The southern region has some bangers this week, and it will be a fun round to keep up with tomorrow!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heritage Hills (9-1) vs. Southridge (7-3)</h2>

<p>Heritage Hills will face Southridge on the road. These two played in Week 1 of the regular season, and Heritage Hills won big 45-13. Heritage Hills is coming off a win against Charlestown 51-14 in Round 1. Southridge beat Corydon Central 49-12 in the first round. Heritage Hills has playmakers all over the field on both sides. Offensively, they are led by [player_tooltip player_id='533140' first='Jett' last='Goldsberry'] (So.) QB. [player_tooltip player_id='553032' first='Hunter' last='Meredith'] (Jr.) and [player_tooltip player_id='322427' first='Braydon' last='Durham'] (Sr.) share the backfield. Durham found the endzone 3 TDs in Round 1 and ran for 37 yards on 10 carries. Meredith had 6 carries and 40 yards rushing. Meredith showed up on defense in Round 1 with 6 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1 INT. Parker Hart (Jr.) LB and Alexander Smith (Jr.) SAF are two to keep an eye out for on defense. Hart had 10 tackles, and Smith had 9 with 2 TFLs and 1 INT. Southridge had a handful of contributors in the first-round win. Seniors Hudson Allen (QB) and Yamil Arroyo (RB) were the two that stood out in the win. Allen went 5/5 and 88 passing yards. Arroyo had 6 carries, 74 yards, and 2 TDs. Southridge will be out for redemption on Friday.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Scottsburg (6-4) vs. Salem (3-7)</h2>

<p>Scottsburg will travel to Salem for their Round 2 matchup. Scottsburg is coming off their first playoff win in school history against North Harrison 13-0. Salem got a first-round win against Madison 20-8. These two teams met early in the regular season, and Scottsburg got the best of Salem 29-15. Salem will rely on their backfield to win this with Evan Bowling (Sr.) and [player_tooltip player_id='1128487' first='Logan' last='Dent'] (Fr.). In the first round, [player_tooltip player_id='1128487' first='Logan' last='Dent'] had 17 carries and 105 yards. Evan Bowling was a star on both sides. Offensively, he had 17 carries, 63 yards, and 2 TDs. Defensively, he had 19 tackles and 2 TFLs. Scottsburg was led on the ground with [player_tooltip player_id='1523297' first='Landon' last='Shuck']. The sophomore RB had 30 carries and 152 yards in Round 1. [player_tooltip player_id='244413' first='Langdon' last='Holbrook'] (Sr.) WR was the only score in Round 1 and had 3 receptions for 48 yards. Jaxon Barnett (Sr.) DL will be a factor for Scottsburg's defense in Round 2. Barnett had 9 tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2 sacks in the first round. These two teams will be hungry to compete for a sectional title.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Franklin County (4-6) vs. Indian Creek (7-3)</h2>

<p>Franklin County will be on the road against Indian Creek in Round 2. Franklin County came out of Round 1 with a victory against South Dearborn 25-7. Indian Creek cruised to a 49-7 win over Greensburg in the first round. This matchup is a redemption game for Franklin County from last season's 1-point loss in the first round to Indian Creek 37-36. Indian Creek was led by senior duo Jalen Sauer (QB) and Jaxson Palmer (WR) in Round 1. Sauer went 9/12, 244 yards, and 5 passing TDs. Palmer caught 3 passes for 108 yards, and all 3 receptions were TDs! Franklin County's offense will most likely be the opposite. Their offense showed up on the ground in Round 1. Wyatt Bowling (So.) QB had 15 carries, 134 yards, and 3 rushing TDs. Jared Moore carried the load 21 times for 74 yards and 1 TD. This second-round matchup will be a revenge game for Franklin County and a momentum game for Indian Creek.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lawrenceburg (8-2) vs. Batesville (9-1)</h2>

<p>Lawrenceburg at Batesville will be a Round 2 Heavyweight Bout! These two had a close game in the regular season that ended with a 26-23 victory for Batesville. Batesville is coming off a dominating win against Rushville 35-6 in Round 1. Lawrenceburg dominated in the first round 40-6 against Centerville. Junior QB [player_tooltip player_id='430952' first='Will' last='Jaisle'] will lead Batesville's offense on Friday night. In the first round, Will went 10/13, 151 yards, and 3 TDs. His top target was [player_tooltip player_id='553150' first='Cade' last='Kaiser'] (Jr.) WR. Kaiser had 4 receptions, 88 yards, and 2 TDs. The workhorse of Round 1 for Batesville was Junior RB Gage Pohlman. Gage carried the rock 32 times, 127 yards, and 1 TD. Lawrenceburg has some studs on defense to keep up with Batesville. Senior SAF [player_tooltip player_id='689627' first='Zavyn' last='Slayback'] and Junior LB [player_tooltip player_id='272857' first='Noah' last='Knigga'] will look to plug up the gaps on Friday night. Senior RB [player_tooltip player_id='316296' first='Teagan' last='Bennett'] was successful in Round 1 with 31 carries, 245 yards, and 2 TDs. [player_tooltip player_id='541965' first='Logan' last='Ahaus'] (Sr.) QB was perfect on 9 passes for 174 yards and 3 TDs. This matchup is shaping up to be a game of the week in 3A!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gibson Southern (8-2) vs. Washington (3-7)</h2>

<p>Gibson Southern will make the trip to Washington for the second round of the playoffs. Gibson Southern continues their streak with a win in the first round against Mt. Vernon 40-7. Washington picks up a Round 1 victory against West Vigo 46-7. The last time they met, Gibson Southern did not keep it close and beat the Hatchets 45-6. Washington is a young team with promising young talent. [player_tooltip player_id='914230' first='Colton' last='Stowers'] (Jr.) QB was impressive in the first round. He went 10/17 for 193 yards and 3 TDs. Stowers connected with his favorite target, [player_tooltip player_id='842399' first='Brody' last='Isza'] (So.) WR 4 times for 71 yards and 2 TDs. Gibson Southern will be a tough team to stop in 3A. [player_tooltip player_id='301144' first='Tanner' last='Boyd'] (Sr.) QB continued to dominate in Round 1, going 17/27, 196 yards, 2 TD, and 1 INT. [player_tooltip player_id='178622' first='Sean' last='DeLong'] (Sr.) ATH had 17 carries, 97 yards, and rushing 2 TDs. Washington will have to play their A-game and complete the upset.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pike Central (2-8) vs. Vincennes Lincoln (7-3)</h2>

<p>Vincennes Lincoln will host Pike Central for their Round 2 matchup. Vincennes Lincoln comes home after a Round 1 win against Owen Valley 54-0. Pike Central continues to play on the road in the playoffs after a first-round win against Princeton 25-20. For Vincennes Lincoln, Xander Hunt (Sr.) QB will be the X-Factor for this matchup. He completed 4 passes for 4 TDs in Vincennes' win in Round 1. Hunt was injured for most of the season and is ready to make a run in the playoffs. Pike Central's Grant Boyd showed up big in the first-round win against Princeton. The Sophomore RB had 24 carries, 160 yards, and 2 rushing TDs. This matchup will be challenging for Pike Central as they are attempting to go to their 2nd straight sectional championship game.</p>
