This past Thursday night saw Chaminade and Lutheran St. Charles face off in what would be a high scoring game that the Red Devils would eventually pull away and win 48 -37. Here are some of the offensive standouts I watched from the sideline.

Junior RB Madden Irving ran with power between the tackles and speed in the open field in an impressive night playing QB for the Red Devils and rushing for a monster 323 yards and two touchdowns on 34 carries, including a very impressive 73 yard run that gave his team a lot of momentum. Irving (5'9" 195) is a workhorse and does nice job making yards after contact. He has deceptive speed since he runs downhill as North/South runner, but he can break a play and take it to the house and not be caught by defensive backs. Madden has rushed for over 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='849683' first='Makai' last='Robinson'] (5'10" 170) was the lightning to Irving's thunder and had his own monster performance rushing the ball 18 times for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns, Kai is more quick twitch and shifty with good vision to go along with having breakaway speed. He can maneuver between or around defenders and then hit an extra gear and be gone. The sophomore running back is averaging 7.4 yards per carry this year and has 438 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Sophomore WR Dakarai Weaver (5'11" 170) and freshman RB [player_tooltip player_id='1188258' first='Marcus' last='Allen'] (5'8" 160) deserve honorable mentions for their impressive touchdown runs. Weaver, who is also a lockdown corner, took a sweep handoff and eluded multiple tacklers showing his great athleticism, quickness and speed on his way to the house, and Allen showed very impressive speed on his scoring run.

The entire Chaminade offensive line did a great job in paving the way for a 300 and 200 yard rusher in the same game. Two who stood out to me were senior [player_tooltip player_id='172482' first='Hayden' last='Falb'] (6'4" 290) and junior Andrew Howell (6'2" 265) who did a great job opening holes and blocking for their running backs.

LUTHERAN ST. CHARLES

Senior running back Jamar Cross (6'0" 210) was the main standout for the Cougars powering his way for two touchdowns early in the game. Cross is a very talented linebackers as well and brings that energy and intensity to his powerful running to his running style. He hits the hole quickly and if there isn't one he makes it using his legs to make yards after contact.

[player_tooltip player_id='171963' first='Kaleb' last='Mays'] (5'9" 165) is an explosive senior athlete who just makes plays on both sides of the ball. He has speed and great hands and ball skills and is a dangerous receiving threat who can take it to house on any play.

Another two-way player who is more known for his defensive work that stood out to me was senior lineman [player_tooltip player_id='126242' first='Isaiah' last='Rubio'] (6'2" 260) who did great work at his right tackle position. The Cursaders ran behind Rubio most of the night including on the touchdown runs. Isaiah has a great motor and is very physical in engaging and finishing his blocks coming off the ball quickly and powering his opponent.
