Kannon Smith
Kannon Smith
Smith is a big boy. He’s only a sophomore and measures 6’5″ and 248 pounds. Smith has a been a cornerstone for the Valor offensive line throughout the season. He’s a mauler, and that attitude is shown throughout all aspects of his play. He has very good strength, which lets him control and steer defenders. Either away from the pocket, or to create holes for the running game. Smith demonstrates good quickness out of his stance. Kannon will eat up defenders at the line of scrimmage, then use his good quickness to reach the 2nd level to create more blocks. He has good awareness, and will steer defenders away from the QB. He’s good in pass protection sets. Good powerful anchor against the bull rush. Digs his feet in and becomes immovable. I’m very excited to see his growth in the upcoming seasons.
Jake Harris
Jake Harris
Jake Harris is an athletic monster. At 6’1 185 pounds, he has the athleticism to play on either side of the ball. He is currently playing center and defensive end for the Wolverines, however he has gotten playtime at linebacker due to injuries, and has excelled. Harris demonstrates the qualities that you want out of an offensive lineman. He has a low pad level and will use it to his advantage to out leverage the defender. Due to this, in combination with very good strength, he will control and steer the defender to create holes. He will also throw the defensive lineman down to the ground, demonstrating a high motor and competitive toughness. Strong anchor against bull rush and spin moves. Good in pass blocking and run blocking sets. Great contributor on Chaparral’s offensive line. He might not be the biggest offensive lineman, but his effort and athletic ability outshine and make up for it.
Reis Russell
Reis Russell
Russell is only a freshmen, but has been killing it as the starting Left Tackle for the Valor Eagles. Measuring in at 6’2″ 255 pounds, he’s got good measurables. However since he’s a freshmen, there’s a more room for him to grow. His play really stands out, as he’s able to excel where others might struggle. He uses his good quickness to get out of his stance. Maintains a low pad level to out leverage the defensive line. This allows him to control and steer the defender. In pass protection, he’s good. He maintains a powerful anchor and stop edge rushers to give his QB time. An exciting player who’s just getting started.
Seth Olsen
Seth Olsen
Olsen is one big boy. Lumbering in at 6’7″ 290 pounds, opposing defenders don’t like to go up against him. 1st thing that stood out to me was his ability to get a low pad level. Taller offensive linemen tend to struggle with that however, Olsen succeeds. His power and strength is evident when you throw on the tape. He uses that to control and steer defenders, creating holes for the running game or giving his QB extra time to make that throw. He wins at the 1st level, and will execute highly at the 2ns level. He has a powerful anchor against spin and power moves. Olsen has a competitive nature, and will play after the whistle. With his play and physical attributes, Olsen is a name to watch out for going forward.
Christian Pereria
Christian Pereria
Pereira is only a sophomore measuring in at 6’0″ 215 pounds. Pereira has been a solid contributor for Valor’s offensive line throughout the course of the season. Pereira does a great job as a pulling guard, and can create holes/movement from the line of scrimmage. When he pulls to the left, defenders need to watch out. He starts with a strong push at the line of scrimmage, then wraps up his defenders to give him the ability to control and steer the DL. He possess the ability to get a low pad level, and out leverage the defender. He’s good at executing the first level, and moving to the 2nd level with ease. Good anchor to help protect QB. A great player that I can’t wait to see more from in the upcoming seasons.
