Shrake has quietly had a phenomenal 2nd half of his high school career. Over the past 2 seasons, he's rushed for just under 3,000 yards and 26 TDs. His Sectionals performance Friday was also one of the more impressive games of his career. He's playing his best football when they need it most, and yet it still feels like there's even more room for Shrake to grow on the field. Friday, he rushed for 243 yards and 2 TDs. The offense goes through Shrake and his consistency. To have a back who you know will always, at worst, get you 2nd and medium or 3rd and very short is such a win. Then to have him be the size of Shrake who likes to run physically, he can become quite the problem which is where Shrake is at this point in his career. He gets better as the game goes on and as he tires out the defense. When they're running out of gas, he's just getting going. Shrake has been impressive and checks quite a few boxes long-term for a back who can play at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1059823' first='Mark' last='Kube'] - Eastern Hancock - RB - 6'0" 175lbs - 2024

Kube has been a nice breakout this year and seems to be finding his groove on the field behind the QB. He's been dynamic all season and ripped off big play after big play. His speed allows him to gain just about any corner he wants. He's then shifty in a phone booth and can make just about anyone miss if he's got the space. His vision is one of his best attributes which is what allows him to find the back door so often. He's averaged just under 7 YPC this season to give you an idea of his efficiency. I'm a big fan of efficient players who make the most of every opportunity rather than take that rep for granted. It's more an NFL Scouting thing, but it applies to all levels. The more efficient you are with your reps, the better signs it is long-term. Typically, it means you are faster and more athletic than most people on the field, which gets you pretty darn far in football. Kube's 1285 rushing yards and 22 TDs on the ground have him right up there with his efficiency. It's only 1 year of playing at this level, but sometimes that's all you need to showcase your abilities and that's right where Kube is for me.

[player_tooltip player_id='990347' first='Branden' last='Braun'] - Jennings County - RB/WR - 6'0" 190lbs - 2024

Braun has been on a continuous climb and getting better each week. He began to break out last year and finished the season strong leaving you wanting more. Well, he's come out and backed that up to show it wasn't a fluke. His 819 rushing yards and 10 TDs were backed up by 1465 yards and 24 TDs on the ground. He's dynamic and accelerates quickly. He gets north and south and does a great job sticking his foot in the ground and bursting through a hole. He's not going to be run down if and when he hits the open field. He's also incredibly versatile being a slot WR this year. He's brought in an additional 36 catches, 515 yards, and 5 TDs through the air. He does a great job settling down in zones and finding the open spot. He's then great with the ball in his hands, as you can imagine being an RB. His versatility and ability to move around are going to be paramount for his development at the next level because he truly could develop into a special back. 2000 scrimmage yards and 30 TDs in 1 season is pretty impressive no matter where you are, and Braun has done just that this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1059822' first='Deakon' last='Dilts'] - Mississinewa - WR - 6'2" 195lbs - 2024

Dilts has been a revelation this season for Mississnewa. It took a few games for him to get rolling, but once he did, he never looked back. He had 2 games where he was slow to start and then ripped off 4 straight games of having at least 90 yards and 2 TDs. One of the more impressive streaks I've seen in quite some time. 2 TDs in 4 games in a row is pretty impressive, especially considering those were half his catches in that span. He was getting behind defenses in the red zone, going up, and winning all the 50/50 balls. With his frame and vertical, those 50/50 balls are more like 80/20 balls. After all that, Dilts's Sectional Week 1 performance may be the most impressive out of all of them. 234 yards and 4 TDs while making a few incredible grabs. Dilts has a wide catch radius and can snag the ball out of the air with 1 hand. Not to be flashy, but because sometimes you can only get 1 hand to the ball. Better yet, he's not just a contested catch or down-the-field shot guy. For his size, he's fairly good after the catch and makes more defenders miss than you'd anticipate. Dilts has been fun to watch this season and just put on a clinic this past Friday that everyone should check out.
