This one is definitely at the top of the list when it comes to 3A regular season matchups here in this 2023 season. Mohave enters the contest 8-0 and will look to stay perfect against a tough, scrappy, explosive Sabino squad. Nearly all of their games this year have been blowouts, with the exception of that 28-20 win earlier in the year over ALA-West Foothills. They’re ranked #1 in the state in 3A and there’s really no argument there, given the amount of explosive players they have and what they’ve been doing to nearly all of their opponents. Soe may argue the strength of schedule, but if you look at it, they’ve played and beat two teams ranked in the top 10 and will play another this week, and have beaten the breaks off of everyone they’ve played regardless of competition level, excluding ALA-West Foothills of course. The eyes will be on Army commit Jonathan Williams Jonathan Williams 6'1" | 220 lbs | ATH Mohave | 2024 State AZ , who looks like a man amongst boys in every game they play, as they have themselves a special player that doesn’t come around often in 3A. Sabino is another top team in 3A as they sit at number 7 right now with a 6-3 record. How can they sit at #7 with 3 losses? Well, that’s because their 3 losses are to 4A ranked #4 Mica Mountain, and 3A ranked #4 Thatcher and #9 Morenci, while both 3A losses were super close. On the flip side, they beat ALA-West Foothills by a bigger point differential than Mohave on a 42-21 win. Add a few more impressive wins on their past games like Pusch Ridge and Safford, and you have yourself a legit top 3A contender. Cameron Hackworth Cameron Hackworth 5'9" | 160 lbs | QB Sabino | 2024 State AZ will be the man to keep an eye on, as he has proven for years to be a game changer with his arm or his legs, as this one will feature two dual-threat QB’s. A big time matchup with playoff seeding and rankings prone to get shaken up after this one, and we could likely see these two meet again in the playoffs.
