The Willis Wildkats proved themselves to be completely dominant in all facets of last weeks game of the week against the 3-0 Conroe Tigers. Be it the offense and their ability to execute the quick game balanced out by the deep ball and stretch runs, or the defense meticulously swarming the Conroe offense and overwhelming the edges; the Wildkats looked like the class of District 13 6-A and seem poised for a title showdown! Player of the game was Jermaine Bishop @JermaineBisho11 and the impact players were Derek Lagway Jr. @DerekLagway, [player_tooltip player_id='628321' first='Imauree' last='Holmes'] @ImaureeD, Brock Perry, [player_tooltip player_id='688654' first='Jalen' last='Mickens'] @JalenMickens4, Daylion Robinson @DaylionRobinson, Debraun Hampton @debraun_hampton , and the entire offense & defensive lines.

Zach Lang

Zach Lang @ZachLang32 is a terror on the Willis Wildkat's defensive front and possesses a relentless motor along with his partners in crime Isaac Stafford and [player_tooltip player_id='408003' first='Josiah' last='Stephens']! This kid has no quit in him and seems to combine being handsy with power and burst. Offensive linemen struggled to get hands on to deflect because where Lang wants to go, Lang goes, and Lang gets there in a hurry. He holds a few offers but look for that to climb under his recent success!

[player_tooltip player_id='408003' first='Josiah' last='Stephens']

[player_tooltip player_id='408003' first='Josiah' last='Stephens'] @Josiahstephen14 is havoc personified on the defensive interior of the Willis Wildkats! Be it speed rush, bullying, gap control, or run support; he does it all and does it well! Stephens was unblockable in his last outing proving that every outing will present the same film! Stephens combines a great bull rush with a series of spin and swipe moves that seem to allow him immediate disengagement from opposing tackles and guards. This kid is a power 5 talent! Remember you heard it here first….

Derek Lagway

Some get tired of hearing it but get used to seeing it! Derek "DJ" Lagway Jr. @DerekLagway is the proof of what happens when God is put first, the right parents find one another, the right work ethic is instilled, the right community embraces, the right coaches and systems are installed, the right adversities and adversaries are overcome, and a kid is defiant enough to say through God all things are possible. Nothing political or fraudulent about this kid or his backing. Thats what makes him in my humble opinion the best player in the country. The 2024 5-star Willis QB @DerekLagway possesses the ELITE mental fortitude, advanced pocket presence, and next level accuracy. He remains calm under pressure and makes sound decisions on how to distribute the ball. Its been awesome to watch you grow all these years!

Debraun Hampton

Debraun Hampton @debraun_hampton as I have stated on a few occasions is the high school version of a Tank Dell! This shifty receiver/returner is and was a big play waiting to happen in his last outing putting up great stats off of great overall receiver play and doing it all with class. Hampton started his last contest off with a 60-yard bomb from Derek Lagway Jr. He would go on to score twice and break the century mark in yardage for the evening. He is a route running savant who has proven to be Lagway's number one target.

[player_tooltip player_id='688654' first='Jalen' last='Mickens']

[player_tooltip player_id='688654' first='Jalen' last='Mickens'] @JalenMickens4 is whatever you need on the offensive side of the ball when it comes to skills positions. I'm still trying to find what he can't do. He's a stout and powerfully built receiver who can play in or outside, gets in and out of breaks with laboring, always is behind his pads when finishing off the apex of routes or runs, and seems to be a sneaky stat stuffer (NEVER SAYS MUCH BUT DOES A GREAT DEAL). This kid is a riser in the rankings and is an OFFER NOW type of player…

Jermaine Bishop

@JermaineBisho11 is an electrifying do it all two-way player for the Willis Wildkats who can flat out play football. He possesses great IQ and Instincts and is very well coached to rely on those intangibles which result in him playing with freedom and producing big plays on offense and defense. Great top-end speed and start stop ability allows him to keep defenders guessing. He scored twice on the evening from long stretches, broke the 150 mark in total yards from scrimmage, and also was a force on the defensive side of the ball.

Brock Perry

Brock Perry was a MAN in the middle of the Willis Wildkat defense! The Wildkat defense was extremely aggressive and disruptive against Conroe. Perry showed great IQ and discipline when snuffing out the ball carrier in read option packages, pass drops, and gap integrity. Look for his recruitment to take a big bump as he leads the Wildkats in the direction of a potential championship in 13-6A!
