This game started out kind of slow. Starkville just came off of a loss to Louisville. They were looking to get a rivalry win against Oxford. The Little Egg Bowl game has some true meaning behind it this year.

Starkville is going to be just fine this year. They are going to be a team this year that are going to very balanced. [player_tooltip player_id='273258' first='Trey' last='Petty'] was on point yesterday. I was able to see that their offense works very well when he is running the ball. Yes, he has a very solid arm, but he also knows how to pick up some yards with his feet. Petty is a dog all the way. He is the firecracker for this Starkville offense. Petty was making nice throws last night as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='139597' first='Braylon' last='Burnside'] had a good game last night. He had a long touchdown where he lost the defensive back by five yards. He is a beast at running routes. Burnside is a player that Starkville needs to be sure to get the ball at least ten times a game. I think we are going to see him have more ways of touching the ball throughout the remainder of the season.

Starkville also has a nice running game. I think that their offense has the ability to use three different guys at running back. Courtland Cooper, [player_tooltip player_id='346421' first='Jay' last='Stevenson'], and Burnside are all some guys that have the ability to run the ball when the Yellow Jackets want to run the football. Them having a balanced offense this season is going to be very key for them.

Starkville's defense stepped up for them last night. There are still a few holes they need to fix, but overall, they looked good. This is going to be another exciting year for the Yellow Jackets.

Oxford

Oxford has some work to do. They are giving up a lot of big plays on offense. They need to find a way to put more pressure on quarterbacks. They did a good job moving the ball on offense last night. In my opinion, things look better when they have Peter Grandjean as the quarterback. His little brother, Mitch Grandjean seems a tad bit nervous at times. There were a lot of times where he was short arming passes. That did not look good to me. Let's see how they do next week.
