Week 5 CSRA Players to Watch

On Sunday, five players from four CSRA schools were named to participate in the 87th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas in Spartanburg.   Regardless of the team records, the talent still finds a way to shine through.   As the regular season reaches the midway point, here's a list of players who can make an impact going into Week Five.   [player_tooltip player_id='797152' first='Aaron' last='Jamison'] RB, Edisto – Teams who exclusively gameplan for Cougars' leading rusher [player_tooltip player_id='1012871' first='Terrell' last='Thomas'] should not overlook his senior backfield mate. Having shown himself as a ball hawk at linebacker, Jamison also contributes on the ground as shown with his two rushing touchdowns last week against Branchville. He looks to do the same this week against Military Magnet.    [player_tooltip player_id='91348' first='Traevon' last='Dunbar'] RB, Midland Valley – The Mustangs' 5-0 start can be directly linked to the production of their senior Shrine Bowl selection. He has already rushed for 1,181 yards and 11 touchdowns in just five games. His quest for 2,000 yards continues Friday against winless Swansea.    Logan Sturkie WR, Barnwell – Paired with Jaquan Peeples, the juniors leads the team in receptions and receiving yards for the Warhorses. The duo face a tough task this week against Silver Bluff and its star-studded defense.    [player_tooltip player_id='1031336' first='Corey' last='Tillman'] RB, North Augusta – His 153 total yards was one of the few bright spots for the Yellow Jackets in last week's loss to Dutch Fork. He looks to fare better this Friday agains Strom Thurmond.    [player_tooltip player_id='605527' first='Jaquel' last='Holman'] RB, Blackville-Hilda – The junior Hawk has rushed for over 100 yards in four of the five games and scored three touchdowns twice in the past month. This week, Wagener-Salley looks to slow him down.    Jordan Avinger RB/DB, Bethune-Bowman – The sophomore helped the Mohawks get into the ‘win' column for the first time with two rushing touchdowns and 128 yards. He also helped Bethune-Bowman post their season-high in points as it looks to make it two in a row against Ridgeland-Hardeeville.    [player_tooltip player_id='139299' first='Jordan' last='Boyd'] (pictured) DL, Silver Bluff – The six-foot three, 220-pound Shrine Bowl selection and Georgia Tech commit has 18.5 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in four games. Against Barnwell, he could have another strong performance.    [player_tooltip player_id='589012' first='Jamaris' last='Stevens'] LB Strom Thurmond – The Rebels are holding opponents to 13 points a game. While having played in just two games, Stevens has made up for time missed by disrupting offenses both on the ground and even in the air. He faces a North Augusta team which had only 48 passing yards against Dutch Fork.    Quan Edmond QB, Strom Thurmond – The presence of Shrine Bowl wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='208338' first='Braylon' last='Staley'] has seen the four-year letterman's numbers improve from last season. He's completing 72 percent of his passes and has only one interception this season. This week, he faces a North Augusta team that allowed 553 total yards against Dutch Fork.    [player_tooltip player_id='340388' first='Terrence' last='Smith'] QB, South Aiken – Just 47 yards shy of 1,000 passing yards, how will the senior Thoroughbred respond against Clinton coming off a season-low 76 total yards and a touchdown in the loss to White Knoll in which he was pulled at halftime?    James Bosket QB, Ridge Spring-Monetta – The senior Trojan looks to have a breakout game in this matchup of 0-4 teams. He has helped account for nearly half of Ridge Spring-Monetta's 48 points this season. They face Williston-Elko in a match-up of 0-4 teams.    [player_tooltip player_id='1142485' first='Jamie' last='Downing'] LB/RB Bamberg-Ehrhardt – A workhorse on both sides of the football. His play on defense is why the Red Raiders are holding opponents to 10 points a game; he's also one of the team's leading rushers. The Red Raiders face East Clarendon this Friday.
