Today, we will be focusing on some intriguing junior running back prospects that should be worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses. Without any further ado, here’s my list of 2025 running backs to watch in week six.
Highlights
At the top of my list of notable standouts is Isaiah Groves Isaiah Groves 6'0" | 185 lbs | RB East Robertson | 2025 State TN , a 6-foot-0, 185-pound running back at East Robertson High School. In addition to his outstanding execution off the snap and ability to catch the defense off guard, Groves impresses me with his physicality and durable edge, showcasing his ability to break tackles and stay on his feet. I also like how Groves maneuvers the field and utilizes his footwork to escape head-on tackles, proving he can break free of the defense and take it to the house.

I am additionally impressed with Tegan Avera Tegan Avera 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Sevier Co. | 2025 State TN , a 5-foot-10, 175-pound running back at Gatlinburg-Pittman High School. In addition to his excellent strength and ability to barrel through the defense, Avera impresses with his ability to deceive the defense with his quick feet and ability to use the edge to his advantage. Perhaps some of the most significant aspects of Avera’s game is his ability to use bursts of speed to quickly escape into the backfield as well as his ability to hurdle players en route to the endzone.
Claiming the number three spot on my list is Jayden Milton Jayden Milton 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB West Carroll | 2025 State TN , a 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back at West Carroll High School. Milton impresses me with his ability to stay locked in and execute quickly off the snap, stunning the defense with his ability to muscle past the defense despite heavy contact. Milton also makes a difference with his ability to use bursts of speed to breakaway from the pocket, leave the defense in the dust and blast into the endzone.

Another skilled prospect to watch out for is Jaishon McLin Jaishon McLin 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Chattanooga Christian | 2025 GA , a 5-foot-9, 190-pound running back at Chattanooga Christian High School. In addition to excellent footwork and physicality, McLin stands out with his unmatched strength, ability to stay on his feet and ability to overpower multiple defenders as he forces his way through the pocket. McLin proved he can advance offensive production on the ground by picking up speed off the snap and remaining composed under pressure.

Coming in at number five on my list is E.J. Carter E.J. Carter 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Notre Dame | 2025 State TN , a 5-foot-9, 175-pound running back at Notre Dame High School. What stands out about Carter is his footwork, ability to quickly pick up speed and his ability to consistently find openings in the pocket to use to his advantage.
