San Diego’s leading receiver from a season ago continues to stand out as one of the most explosive players in the area. Castillo totaled 3 TDs on 6 catches and a punt return TD for 228 all-purpose yards in Mount Miguel’s 66-20 win over Grossmont. He’s a skilled athlete with great speed, body control, and ball skills as a vertical threat. Castillo’s one of the top playmakers on one of the most explosive offenses in San Diego this season.
Charlie Abts
Charlie Abts
Abts found the end zone 3 times on 5 catches for 83 yards in Cathedral Catholic’s 35-28 loss to St. Ignatius (San Francisco). He flashed technical routes/releases against soft coverage and natural hands at the catch point on two of his TD catches. Cathedral Catholic finishes their tough non-league schedule with a home matchup against a strong Helix team this Friday.
Garcia posted 5 catches for 105 yards and 3 TDs in La Costa Canyon’s 38-7 win over Mira Mesa. He flashed his pure playmaking ability breaking free from a tackle and taking an out-route to the endzone and scoring another TD on an inside seam. He’s a fast, physical athlete with the ball in his hands and carries that physical style over to defense as a FS. Garcia’s an exciting 2025 talent to keep an eye on.
Josh Gonzales
Josh Gonzales
Gonzales caught 7 passes for 150 yards and 2 TDs and added a 45-yard PR TD in Escondido’s 36-21 win over Vista. He’s been one of the most productive WRs in San Diego so far this season with 28 catches for 475 yards and 5 TDs in three games. He presents promising frame/build, athleticism, and ball skills for a sophomore and has shown early chemistry with freshman QB Caden Thompson Caden Thompson 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Escondido | 2027 CA .
Daniels followed up a strong performance last week (7 recs, 100 yards, TD) with 57 yards and 2 TDs on 4 catches in Helix’s 53-19 win over Madison. He’s a long, fluid athlete that can extend his catch radius and present mismatches on the perimeter. He’s looking more polished and developed as a route-runner showing ability to create separation in/out of his breaks. Daniels and the Helix offense are off to a strong start averaging over 40 ppg at 4-0.
