#1 West Linn @ #10 Sheldon (WL -30.5)

Sheldon's 37-3 loss to Mililani was somewhat deceiving as the kids out of Hawaii are really good and the Irish are young. That said, as the Lions played OK in week 1 and will likely show up ready to prove something against Sheldon. I see them covering the spread.

#2 Central Catholic @ #5 Jesuit (CC -19)

The Rams 21-point win over a very talented Bellevue, WA team last week, re-emphasized how good this Central team could be. Even more impressive is the litany of underclassmen who are already excelling, with Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='1094734' first='Landon' last='Kelsey'] & [player_tooltip player_id='511878' first='D'Marieon' last='Gates'] each catching 2 TDs from POY [player_tooltip player_id='152354' first='Cru' last='Newman']. These two combine with #1 recruit [player_tooltip player_id='152653' first='Zhaiel' last='Smith'] to make a dangerous 2025 trio.

I had Skyview favored over Jesuit last week but did not see the 28 point shutout coming. The Crusdaers are a good football team but this likely won't be close.

West Salem @ #3 Lake Oswego (LO -21.5)

The Titans played much better football versus #7 Sherwood last week and should continue to improve. Lake O is ranked the #3 team in the state for a reason, and will likely ride sophomore standout [player_tooltip player_id='402416' first='Lamarcus' last='Bell'] and RB [player_tooltip player_id='152359' first='Zavier' last='Russell'], who combined for 5 rushing TDs against a good Barlow team.

#4 Tualatin @ Lincoln WA (TUAL -13)

Lincoln is traditionally one of the top 3A teams in WA, but they do lose a host of talent from last year including 4* QB Gabarri Johnson and RB Navarre Dixon who transferred to Emerald Ridge. The T-Wolves played extremely well in week 1 behind [player_tooltip player_id='285857' first='Nolan' last='Keeney'] and [player_tooltip player_id='152339' first='Jayden' last='Fortier']. The Abes are always tough especially at home but I like Tualatin by a couple scores.

Sprague @ #6 Lakeridge (LAK -23.5)

The Oly's played much better than expected against Liberty with Jr. QB Dukatti Witherspoon and new head coach AJ Robinson doing a good job. Lakeridge looked flat, scoring a couple late TDs against Glencoe to win 21-0. The Pacers will need to dominate this contest and pick things up prior to TRL play.

Clackamas @ #7 Sherwood (SHER -11)

Typically this would be an even matchup with both teams considered two of the better overall programs in Oregon. That said as Clack beat a bad Westview team 28-7 last week. Sherwood has a legit D and QB [player_tooltip player_id='278398' first='Kasen' last='Covert'], which should carry them to a double digit win against the Cavs.

Canby @ #8 Oregon City (OC -17.5)

If you had asked me a week ago, I would have said this would be one of the most even matchups of week 2. 5A #6 Canby got blasted last week 49-20 by #9 Mountain View which was beyond surprising. OC looked OK against Jeff in the 27-0 win. I would expect a good Oregon City team to handle the Cougars, but I could also see them responding to last week's loss similar to last year when they beat OC 35-25.

#9 Tigard @ Sandy (TIG -20)

The Tigers 27-7 win over North Medford was one of the most impressive wins of week 1. The young Tigard group dominated what was supposed to be a good Black Tornado squad with multiple high-profile D1 recruits. The Tigers will need to continue progressing each week prior to TRL play.

#11 South Medford @ Del Norte CA (SMED -21.5)

South was my 6A sleeper coming into the season, and backed that up nicely week 1, in their 42-28 win over a good Mountainside team. Grants Pass beat Del Norte by 14, so I don't see the kids out of Cali competing in this one.

#12 South Salem @ Sunset (SSAL -22)

South Salem got up by 40+ in the first half and then cruised to a win last week over Liberty WA. Sunset squeaked by an average Sandy team. Both teams seem to be heading in different directions, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the Apollos hang around.

#13 Barlow @ #14 Mountainside (MTSIDE -3)

The Bruins lost 2x 1st team all-league lineman [player_tooltip player_id='238631' first='Dylan' last='Howell'] to injury for the season last week which is a brutal blow. The Mavs feature one of the fastest rising programs in the state but are still young. Look for this to be one of the more competitive games statewide.

Roseburg @ #15 Nelson (NELS -6.5)

This is a tough one to predict. Nelson actually played decent in the 37-0 loss to #1 West Linn, with Roseburg destroying Beaverton 50-18. The Indians had a tough year last season but could be back in the mix behind one of the state's top head coaches in Dave Heuberger and RB [player_tooltip player_id='206846' first='Cayden' last='Eckel'].

OTHER GAMES

Forest Grove @ McMinnville PICK EM

Grants Pass @ (5A) Caldera (GP -16.5)

Gresham @ (5A) Ridgeview (RIDGV -1.5)

Jefferson @ Liberty (LIB -15)

Newberg @ Lincoln (NEW -28)

Glencoe @ (5A) Hillsboro (GLE -10.5)

(5A) Southridge @ Grant (SRIDG -3)

David Douglas @ North Salem (NSAL -33)

(5A) Bend @ North Medford (NMED -4)
