Hard to believe the high school regular season is at the halfway point. Here are a few of the names that caught my attention from Friday night in the Northwest/West part of the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='325510' first='Sacovie' last='White']-Ath-'24 Cass

The UGA WR/DB commit had an outstanding 1st half in Friday's 40-0 win over ML King. He hauled in 4 TDs passes and made several big plays on the defensive, all in the 1st half. The NWGA POY candidate has had a very impressive 1st half of the year as the Colonels now shift their attention to Region play as they work their way back to the post-season and a potential Region Title.

Will Wallace-QB-'25 Villa Rica

The 6'0 Junior made the play of the game Friday night. The Wildcats were down 10-7 with under a minute to play and were attempting a FG to tie the game. Wallace, the holder on the attempt, retrieved the bad snap and ran the ball in for what the game winning TD. Wallace has been an instrumental part in the early season success of the Wildcats. Back to back games with over 200 yards total offense. The multisport athlete is one to keep on your radar.

Chase Ward-QB-'24 Coahulla Creek

The 6'2 185 Senior for the Colts continued his streak of outstanding starts. Physical athletic frame guy that rarely leaves the field on Friday nights. Good arm and pocket presence. The dual threat accounted for 294 total yards, 161 passing and 131 rushing, and 4 TDs in the 42-20 win over LFO. The win puts the Colts in good shape to make a run at the post season after making the playoffs last year for the 1st time in school history.

Talan Shirey-Ath-'24 Darlington

The 5'10 Ath continues to impress week after week. Under rated returning All Region guy that just keeps plugging away and getting it done. He had a monster 4th Q in a 28-22 win over Dade Co on Friday. Opened the quarter with a 78 yard kickoff return. He had several big catches down the stretch including the game winner when he out jumped the defender in the corner of the endzone. One of the impressive things about Mr. Shirey is the morning after such a big game he is on the baseball field in a competitive tournament early Saturday morning. Impressive, athletic young man that is going to be a steal in the Spring.

[player_tooltip player_id='137476' first='Reece' last='Fountain']-QB-'24 Rome

The standout Rome 4 year starting QB is on the verge, if not already, the #1 passer in Wolve program history. Outstanding night Friday in the Region opener going 14 of 17 for 267 yards and 5 TDs in a 62-0 win over Allatoona. The 6'0 191 returning All Region, 3000 yard passer, 4.17 AP/GPA guy is going to be a great addition to a college program this February.

Jackson Coonley-RB/SS-'24 Armuchee

The 6'1 200 RB is one of the most physical RBs I've seen live this season. Has the athleticism to make you miss but would rather lower his shoulder and run over you. Scored 3 1st half TDs in the Indians 28-0 win over Region rival Coosa. Multisport standout that comes highly recommended from his coaches.
