Continue ReadingDante Reno Dante Reno 6’1″ | 200 lbs | QB Cheshire Academy | 2024 State NewE still holds the crown as the most impressive quarterback prospect I’ve had the chance to see up close and personal. Second on that long list is Ryan Puglisi Ryan Puglisi 6’3″ | 205 lbs | QB Avon Old Farms | 2024 State NewE , who happens to land one spot behind Reno on our ranks. Deciding between the two from afar is like splitting hairs. Some might like Puglisi, the Georgia-commit presenting a slightly better frame. I still haven’t come across a passer more fluid with the football. Effortless release, a compact, seasoned pre-snap base that makes everything post-throw look exemplary. Incredible depth perception, incredible ball placement, and downfield judgment. Puglisi and Kyle McCord are the only QBs I’ve held to this standard.
Only two backs place inside the top 50 of our New England ranks, with Bryce Davis Bryce Davis 6’0″ | 190 lbs | RB Brunswick School | 2024 State NewE narrowly out-ranking Plymouth South’s Casious Johnson Casious Johnson 6’0″ | 210 lbs | RB Plymouth South | 2024 NewE . Both are being actively recruited, with Davis accumulating offers from Power Five, G5, FCS schools alike. Pitt offered Bryce Davis Bryce Davis 6’0″ | 190 lbs | RB Brunswick School | 2024 State NewE back in May, with Charlotte, Merrimack, Morgan State, and Wagner following suit, among others. Formerly out of Stepinac HS, Bryce Davis Bryce Davis 6’0″ | 190 lbs | RB Brunswick School | 2024 State NewE reclassed to 2024 and joined Brunswick School last Summer. I got a chance to watch him work this past offseason, his work leading the decision to make him the top back in New England. Casious Johnson Casious Johnson 6’0″ | 210 lbs | RB Plymouth South | 2024 NewE and Matt Childs Matt Childs 6’0″ | 205 lbs | RB Milton Academy | 2024 State NewE are in that discussion.
With Ayers and Monteiro placing as ATHs, as well as Sage Clawges Sage Clawges 6’4″ | 190 lbs | WR St. Thomas More | 2024 NewE moving up to the c/o 2023 after committing to Rutgers, Deerfield Academy’s Triston Ward Triston Ward 6’1″ | 185 lbs | WR Deerfield Academy | 2024 State NewE ranks as New England’s top pass-catcher. The Virginia commit mingled with the names mentioned above, yet the exodus of talent leaves Ward as the lone pass-catcher having committed to a Power Five school. I’d argue he should place a bit higher than 21 overall, with the 15-spot being his ceiling. I caught a glimpse of Triston Ward Triston Ward 6’1″ | 185 lbs | WR Deerfield Academy | 2024 State NewE at the Under Armour camp held at DePaul Catholic in Jersey, he looked as advertised.

I’ll be detailing the eight tight-end prospects that rank inside the top 100 in a later piece. In said piece, I’ll dive into Duke Commit Brett Elliott Brett Elliott 6’5″ | 230 lbs | TE Buckingham Browne & Nichols | 2024 State NewE ‘s tape a bit more. Danny Edgehille Danny Edgehille 6’5″ | 245 lbs | TE Loomis Chaffee | 2024 State NewE is the lone prospect in the running for Elliott’s spot, a rank Elliott has held since my time on this site. Buckingham Browne and Nichols will station the elite prospect in various sets and alignments this coming Fall. Despite this TE class looking as good as ever, Elliott might be the lone New England tight end to commit to a Power Five program. I must remind that Cheshire Academy’s Luke Reynolds Luke Reynolds 6’4″ | 220 lbs | ATH Cheshire Academy | 2024 State NewE is listed as an ATH.

Guerby Lambert Guerby Lambert 6’6″ | 280 lbs | OL Catholic Memorial | 2024 State NewE stands as one of the best, if not the best, senior left uncommitted in the Northeast region of the country. High praise coming from myself. Lambert also saw high praise from PRZ after we ranked him as the top prospect in all of New England 5 months ago. Now, Reynolds holds that crown. Lambert, who was dropped just one spot this update, rivals some of the best linemen to rank inside the top three across the East Coast. You can make the case that Lambert is better than every PA 2024 lineman, might be able to say the same for New York. Lambert has 25+ offers, excited to see what program ends up with this massive stud.

In my time at PRZ, ranking kids dating back to 2019, I’ve never seen a prospect on our watchlist as a sophomore, climb the ranks and be crowned the top overall prospect by their senior year. Identifying the top kid in each class is relatively easy, as most blossom early in development. I still remember this time last year, finding Luke Reynolds Luke Reynolds 6’4″ | 220 lbs | ATH Cheshire Academy | 2024 State NewE , watching him perform against a loaded Hun School program, a program he had no problem showing up against. No offers at the time, kind of a “Who is this kid” moment. Reynolds was showing off his capabilities at QB, LB, TE, all in front of me for the first time. I proceeded to rank him inside the top 150, then a jump into the top ten, now to the one spot. Quite the story, one I’ll tell people about for years to come.
Can’t speak enough about the young man’s work ethic, the attention to detail he attributes to the game. Love the growth in terms of body and frame, his profile picture doesn’t do his build justice. Wherever Penn State decides to play this young man, he’s going to succeed. Off the edge, OLB, TE, no matter, you’ll be hearing about this name on future Saturdays.

Stanford commit Benedict Umeh Benedict Umeh 6’5″ | 260 lbs | DL Avon Old Farms | 2024 State NewE ranks above the two quarterbacks Reno and Puglisi, the two passers who round out the top five. In all honesty, it’s tough to rank guys like Umeh, Andrews, and Newby, for obvious reasons. All three are worthy of this spot, all three garnered consideration, yet the spot ultimately went to the 6’5, 260-pound defender out of Avon Old Farms. Talking with prominent coaches actively recruiting Umeh before his commitment, they spoke about Umeh’s future potential coupled with the tools he already possesses. The young man’s upside is arguably higher than Reynolds and Lambert’s. Excited to see him work alongside several special defenders stationed at AOF.
When I first saw Cheshire Academy last Fall, Elijah Newby Elijah Newby 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Cheshire Academy | 2024 State NewE was one of the big draws for me to travel an hour and some change. Chiseled, almost looks like a basketball player, lean cut and long-limbed. Elijah Newby Elijah Newby 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Cheshire Academy | 2024 State NewE , the second PAC-12 commit on this list, stakes his claim as the prospect with the highest upside. Although I believe that to be Umeh, choosing Newby as the potential future All-American makes sense as well. At this level, Elijah Newby Elijah Newby 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Cheshire Academy | 2024 State NewE fits the prototypical build of a freak OLB who is proficient in pass coverage, who can rush the passer, who can set the edge. That guy offensive coordinators have nightmares about, that guy looks and is shaped like Elijah Newby Elijah Newby 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Cheshire Academy | 2024 State NewE , What’s worse, Newby can double as a TE prospect if need be, at least at this level. I imagine USC likes Newby to project to the defensive side of the football, we’ll see how his future unfolds.
Austin Stull Austin Stull 5’11” | 180 lbs | DB St. Thomas More | 2024 State NewE is a new name on our ranks. He, along with Christian Zamor Christian Zamor 6’1″ | 200 lbs | DB Everett | 2024 State NewE and Jon Morris Jon Morris 6’2″ | 195 lbs | DB Fairfield Prep | 2024 State NewE , received reasonable consideration to dethrone the top DB, that being Avon Old Farms’ KeShawn Adams KeShawn Adams 6’0″ | 185 lbs | DB Avon Old Farms | 2024 State NewE . Three straight updates have come and gone with Keke Adams Keke Adams 6’0″ | 180 lbs | DB Avon Old Farms. Ct. | 2024 NewE placing as the exemplary defensive back representing senior New England Adams will now join the top wideout Triston Ward Triston Ward 6’1″ | 185 lbs | WR Deerfield Academy | 2024 State NewE at Virginia, with the program landing verbal commitments from both. Hears to hoping the duo sharpen each other’s iron for years to come.
