They all possess different types of skill sets that make them stand out. Some are nationally ranked already, while others have been targeted to be next up in recruiting. Let’s jump right in and see who these stand out studs are.
Xavier “Poohman” McDonald | Morton High
6’3 | 165 lbs
It’s no surprise this kid is the first on the list. He’s been making plays since 8th grade. He’s lanky and long with superb ball skills and has the speed to beat away from any defender. He has pretty good route running, but it’s not always shown on film. If you watch him in 1v1 and 7v7, you can see his route running is above average. After watching him in the 8th grade Under Armour game; displaying his speed, soft hands, and route running building, you could tell this kid was the best receiver in the nation. He is nationally ranked as the number 7 receiver and the number 1 receiver in Mississippi. Look for his stock to keep rising as he continues to prove he is the number 1 receiver in the nation in his class. He currently holds 8 offers, mostly power 5 schools like: LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, etc.
Omari Johnson | Wesson Attendance Center
6’1 | 170 lbs
Johnson should be rated as an athlete instead of receiver, but after putting up 1000 yards, he has to be named on this list. He will most likely end up as a DB on the next level after you watch him get in and out of breaks from a back pedal position. Johnson’s number one attribute is that he is very fast, which shows when he’s separating from defenders with ease. He is also very good in the return game; racking up good numbers there and at the running back position. Johnson’s numbers are hard to ignore. Putting up over 2,400 yards and 24 touchdowns as a freshman is as elite as it gets. He currently holds 8 offers, mostly power 5 schools like: LSU, Tennessee, Florida State , etc.
Tristan Keys | Hattiesburg High
6’3 | 170 lbs
Keys is a kid that has all the tools. He’s big, has strong hands, and really good jump ball ability. He has a basketball background, so the jump ball is a given with those type of athletes since they are used to going up and rebounding the ball. He is considered a “X” type of receiver in most offenses being that he is 6’3 in stature. He has nice explosiveness out of his stance, getting into his routes and he skies over guys like they are not even there. He has some run after the catch ability and pretty good route running ability as well. He is one that I see blowing up soon because he possesses everything that you would want in a receiver. He currently holds 3 offers: Ole Miss, UNLV, and Arkansas.
Jase Matthews | Greene County High School
6’2 | 180 lbs
Matthews has the prototypical body of a college receiver. He has great jump ball ability judging by his tape. He is an above average route runner as he wins on most double moves, which is unusual for such a young kid. He comes down with balls you’d think are going to be interceptions, which leads me to believe that he plays basketball as well. He has unique yac ability for a slender built guy by bouncing off of would be tacklers for long gains. He has good speed, not a burner, but plays the game with grit and determination, so you gotta bring it to tackle him. Very nice receiver prospect who holds one offer from Ole Miss.
Aiden Knox Aiden Knox 6'0" | 160 lbs | ATH Clinton | 2026 MS | Clinton High School
6’0 | 165 lbs
If you look at the definition of fast, you will see his name right beside it. Knox runs a 10.7 in the 100 meter dash and holds a lot of youth records for speed. He is a track guy that is learning how to play receiver and it’s happening fast. He is a very fast learner and very coachable. He is really good at catching over the shoulder, which is something he has to be good at because he will run by most defenders with ease. That’s the type of catch that he will have to perform. He is getting better at his releasing at the line of scrimmage in press. He is the sleeper of this group, and it would not surprise me if he jumps ahead of most on this list because he is so much faster than everyone else. Coaches love that raw speed from any prospect and that’s what you are getting when you turn on the tape of Knox. He currently holds one offer from Penn State. Look for more schools to become interested as time passes along.
