9/8 615pm at Northern Highlands
With a 35-13 win vs. a good Paramus team last weekend, Old Tappan has hit the ground running in 2023. A purely dominate effort, the team was lead by Alex Orecchio Alex Orecchio 5'8" | 155 lbs | QB Old Tappan | 2025 State NJ who tossed two touchdowns in the win. On the defensive side of the ball, Evan Brooks Evan Brooks 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Old Tappan | 2024 State NJ showed how impactful he can be by intercepting the ball once and also returning a fumble for a touchdown. Old Tappan has started the season off hot, but is going up against a strong opponent in Northern Highlands.
Northern Highlands has started the season off quickly too with a 2-0 record. Led by their talented 2025 QB Nate Johnson Nate Johnson 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Northern Highlands | 2025 NJ , Nate has lit up the scoreboard with 3 passing touchdowns and 218 passing yards to go with it. On top of it, he has used his legs to his advantage and ran for 77 yards and a touchdown too. Northern Highlands is comfortable in tight games, as they were able to come out with a win last week against Wayne Valley 20-17.
West Morris (2-0) vs. Mt. Olive (2-0)
9/8 7pm at Mt. Olive
West Morris is led by a stout backfield. With multiple weapons that seem to just continue to reload, defenses get very little rest against this rushing attack. For instance, senior running back’s Jack DeFusco, Garrett Crisp Garrett Crisp DB West Morris | 2024 NJ , and Tyler Wu have rushed for a combined 306 yards and 3 touchdowns thus far. Junior running back Jaxon Corkery Jaxon Corkery 5'10" | 160 lbs | RB West Morris Central | 2025 NJ has also helped out in the backfield with 42 rushing yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Jack DeFusco is leading the charge as well with 19 tackles, while senior Gavin Drown has 2 picks on the season already.
Mt Olive’s junior QB Jake Asbury Jake Asbury 5'9" | 150 lbs | QB Mount Olive | 2025 NJ has been a true playmaker early in the season for his squad. Tossing for 432 yards and 5 tds through the first two games, Jack is starting to turn some heads. On the rushing side of it, junior Tyler Cumming Tyler Cumming 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Mount Olive | 2025 NJ has rushed for 231 yards and 3 tds. On the defensive side of the ball, Lincoln Youtz Lincoln Youtz 6'0" | 185 lbs | LB Mount Olive | 2025 NJ , a 2025 LB, has already racked up 20 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and forced a fumble. Mt. Olive has a strong 2025 class that is demonstrating early on how impactful they can be.
