James Madison vs. George C. Marshall
Ahhh a true test for the home squad Marshall Statesmen as they have made light work of their first three opponents. The 6A state runner ups James Madison Warhawks have been on a terror to start 2023, including a wild victory of Stone Bridge in week 1. Both teams come into this game undefeated and you best believe the Marshall faithful will be rocking out Thursday night for this contest. If the Statesmen are for real and early indications have shown they may be, battling one of the best teams in Virginia will certainly show us either way. For Marshall offensively they have senior running back Sam Morales who had over 100 yards rushing last week on only 8 carries, he is fun to watch. A couple more players to keep an eye on include quarterback Ian Olsen and defensive end Mohamed Ali Elmrabet Mohamed Ali Elmrabet 6'2" | 190 lbs | DL George C. Marshall | 2025 State VA . The Warhawks have playmakers all over keep an eye on linebacker Luke Jarvis Luke Jarvis 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB James Madison | 2024 VA and receiver Cord Yates Cord Yates 5'9" | 160 lbs | WR James Madison | 2024 State VA .
South County vs Fairfax
In a game that features two potential state playoff schools, the Stallions travel to Fairfax (3-0) to do battle once again with the Lions. Fairfax coming off one of their best seasons in school history has yet to be tested in their first three contests, best be known South County is looking to do more than just a test. The Stallions one blemish this year came to powerhouse Quince Orchard, but they are coming off a one score victory over rival West Springfield so the momentum is back on their side. This game could determine seeding come district playoff time already as both teams are at the top of their conference. This game should have a playoff like atmosphere, especially with Georgia Commit Kristopher Jones Kristopher Jones 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Mountain View | 2024 State VA carrying the football for the Lions. A few more players to watch include South County quarterback Jordan Dennis Jordan Dennis 5'9" | 165 lbs | QB South County | 2024 State VA , linebacker Joe Poinelli (one of my game ball recipients for his monster performance last Friday) and for Fairfax receiver Penn Morris and Cameron Love, both can make you pay in the passing and run game.
Lake Braddock vs West Potomac
The Lake Braddock Bruins (2-1) pulled off a big win over Westfield 9-7 last week and now travel to West Potomac who is coming off their bye week at 2-0. Lake Braddock has some potential stars including junior defensive tackle Trent Pane Trent Pane 6'1" | 250 lbs | DL Lake Braddock Secondary | 2025 State VA who is a menace along their defensive line. One of the statewide leaders in sacks (not a misprint) Pane through three games has 5 already and there is a good chance he notches close to 15 by seasons end. The Wolverines are not going to just fold over by any means as they are less than two weeks removed from big win over Centreville. Watch out for senior receiver/free safety Mason Hopper, he is a good one.
