Freshman Defenders Standing Out In 2023

He has a long, athletic frame at 6-foot-3 225-pounds with plenty of room to put on more weight and muscle over the next few years. An explosive pass-rusher, Guyton earned an offer from the Georgia Bulldogs over the summer and will see more come his way sooner than later. Through his first three games, Guyton has played like a future 5-star, making 22 total tackles and an outstanding 9.5 TFLs. He's also made 5.5 sacks on the season. He's big, physical, runs well, and knows how to deliver a massive hit to the ball-carrier. He does everything well and absolutely dominated in middle school. Now, he's dominating at the high school level. The dynamic defender has made 20 total tackles and three TFLs through his first three games. He made 8 tackles and two TFLs in his very first game, then made 10 tackles and one TFL against rival St. Pius. Look for him to continue playing betetr and better as his freshman season moves along.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='941658' first='AJ' last='Hill'] Jr. - Thomasville</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top young players in South Georgia, Hill Jr. is a dynamic two-way athlete who is off to a really strong start to his high school career. A playmaker on both sides of the ball. Hill Jr. plays hard and loves contact. Down at Thomasville, the young freshman has already started to make a name for himself. So far this season, Hill Jr. has made 20 tackles through his first four high school games. He made an eye-opening 8 tackles in his very first game, followed by just two tackles in week two and three. But in week four, the promising defender made 8 more tackles. At 6-foot-2 225-pounds, Wuerth is a force off the EDGE with plenty of size and raw strength. He's quick off the snap and consistently finds his way into the backfield. He's been extremely productive through his first three high school games, making 23 total tackles and 9 TFLs while adding three more sacks. He shed blocks with ease, shows a great motor, and can get after the quarterback as well as he gets to the running back. Already one of the better defenders in the area, Wuerth looks like he could be bringing in some offers down the road. His biggest game of the year so far came against Savannah County Day when he made 9 tackles, four TFLs and three sacks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
