Prep Redzone Louisiana has picked five players each area of the state to prioritize catching in person this fall.
The series will limit inclusion of teammates in order to incorporate more teams, and older players receive preference with fewer opportunities left to see them before they wrap up their high school careers.
Starting off the series, here are the “Catch 5 Live” selections for the Baton Rouge area.
Daniel Beale Daniel Beale 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2024 State LA | 6-2, 190 QB | Catholic (2024)
Louisiana’s top-ranked senior quarterback, a Louisiana (Lafayette) commitment, prepares for a senior season with big expectations for both him and his Bears team. Beale has continued to make strides every year from his “Baby Beale” days being thrown into action as a freshman. Former assistant Hudson Fuller returns to the program as a head coach and play-caller with experience as a college staffer. And their relationship and trust and Beale’s handle for the game and the playbook and corresponding confidence to adjust, anticipate, extend and create plays are big reasons why Catholic is considering once again among the top title contenders in the state’s highest classification.
Trey’Dez Green Trey’Dez Green 6'7" | 225 lbs | ATH Zachary | 2024 State LA | 6-7, 230 TE/ATH | Zachary (2024)
Fans in the Baton Rouge area and around the state were excited earlier this year to see Green, one of Louisiana’s top tier of rising senior prospects, become a key piece of LSU’s 2024 commitment class. The big, athletic pass-catchers — also a star on the basketball court is already wearing a new jersey this fall, though, after a summer move from East Feliciana to Zachary. In the process, Green joins one of the most high-profile programs with a strong combination of roster talent, coaching staff, facilities and other resources and a handful of high-profile matchups against other top teams and players.
Da’Shawn McBryde Da’Shawn McBryde 6'3" | 200 lbs | DB Denham Springs | 2024 State LA | 6-3, 195 DB/WR | Denham Springs (2024)
The Yellow Jackets’ safety opened eyes last fall with a breakout junior campaign headlined by his record-setting interception total and eventually earned and committed to an offer from nearby LSU this spring. McBryde spent the offseason getting faster and stronger and racking up 7-on-7 reps and preparing to play notable roles in all three phases for Denham Springs this fall. He’s among the state’s most fun players to watch with the ball in the air, and fans will have opportunities to see him do so as both a defensive back and receiver this season.
Keylan Moses Keylan Moses 6'2" | 215 lbs | ATH University Lab | 2025 State LA | 6-2, 215 LB/ATH | University Lab (2025)
The lone junior on this list, one of Louisiana’s elite 2025 prospects, plays for a loaded University Lab team and manages to make highlight-reel plays every week to stand out even with so many talented teammates taking their turns in the spotlight. Moses is quick, strong and relentless in the pressure he applies to opposing backfields and enthusiastically punctuates each big stop with a roar. And the Cubs also rely on him with a consistent load of carries on the other side of the ball where he showcases a different side of his athleticism.
Joel Rogers Joel Rogers 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH West Feliciana | 2024 State LA | 6-1, 185 ATH | West Feliciana (2024)
The Saints’ versatile leader was an underrated player to watch last year, but now enters his senior season with the always-notable “LSU commit” moniker — the (at least) third future Tiger on this list. Rogers is a smooth athlete with the ball in his hands running the West Feliciana offense, doesn’t shy away from contact and is a good enough passer to effectively distribute the ball to his other speedy teammates. And even with those responsibilities on his plate, he still gets the opportunity on the other side of the ball to showcase the potential at safety that had LSU and so many other programs around the country lining up scholarship offers.
