We are now getting a better understanding of which teams are truly talented, which teams may have had a lucky first week, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will be providing a preview for each week three game by conference for the 5A level. Up next is the Northwest Oregon Conference. Each game will have a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch, based on their recent performances.
#1 Wilsonville (2-0) @ (6A) #4 Tualatin (2-0)
Prediction: Tualatin def. Wilsonville 42-16.
Wilsonville is easily the number one team in 5A, but the #4 team in 6A is uber-talented and should win handily like they did last season, winning 44-7. According to our rankings, the #1 player in Oregon and Arizona State commit, Jayden Fortier Jayden Fortier 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Tualatin | 2024 State OR , will continue his stellar start to the year. I think Kallen Gutridge Kallen Gutridge 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Wilsonville | 2024 State OR and this offense will be able to put up more points than last year.

Highlights
(6A) Beaverton (1-1) @ #10 Canby (0-2)
Prediction: Canby def. Beaverton 35-12.
Canby should have a strong performance in their upcoming game against Beaverton despite a challenging start to their season. Tyler Konold Tyler Konold 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Canby | 2024 State OR ‘s leadership in the team’s offense is predicted to be a key factor in their success. It would come as a surprise if Canby struggles in this game.
Players to watch:
(4A) La Salle (1-1) @ Centennial (0-2)
Prediction: La Salle def. Centennial 35-6.
The Eagles are set to play their first game on their brand new, beautiful turf field, which is the main storyline for this game. However, it won’t be an easy one for the Eagles as they face a formidable opponent. An underrated player, Grant Ellison Grant Ellison 6'4" | 225 lbs | DL La Salle | 2024 State OR will pose a significant challenge due to his size advantage. This game is expected to be a blowout in favor of the opposing team. As a Centennial alum, I hope the Eagles prove me wrong.

Forest Grove (1-1) @ #5 Mountain View (2-0)
Prediction: Mountain View def. Forest Grove 49-20.
Mountain View has had an impressive start to the year. They dominated Canby in week one and followed it up with a 37-point shutout against Churchill last week. Although I am a fan of Forest Grove QB Kaden Hale Kaden Hale 6'3" | 200 lbs | ATH Forest Grove | 2024 State OR , they will have a difficult challenge going up against Mountain View this week.
Players to watch:
Angel Valenzuela Angel Valenzuela 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Mountain View | 2026 State OR
Angel Valenzuela Angel Valenzuela 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Mountain View | 2026 State OR
Highlights
(4A) Seaside (1-1) @ Hillsboro (1-1)
Prediction: Hillsboro def. Seaside 28-21.
This upcoming game promises to be quite entertaining. Although it’s difficult to predict the outcome, my bet is on Hillsboro to win, mainly because of their impressive offensive performance in week one. However, Seaside’s RB Jake White Jake White 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB Seaside | 2025 State OR could be the game-changer; if he manages to perform well, Seaside might emerge victorious.
Players to watch:
Hood River Valley @ (4A) #2 Scappoose
Prediction: Scappoose def. Hood River Valley 28-7.
This game will be interesting. Scappoose is the better team and the favorites, but Hood River Valley has some impressive athletes who will make this game difficult for the Indians. I have Scappoose eventually pulling away in this one, as they should be able to win in the trenches.

Highlights
Grady Williams

Bend (1-1) @ Putnam (0-2)
Prediction: Bend def. Putnam 35-6.
Putnam has experienced several losses since last season and is currently struggling, while Bend is expected to surpass their average of 10 points per game and win convincingly.

(4A) #10 Tillamook (1-1) @ Southridge (1-1)
Prediction: Tillamook def. Southridge 35-12.
The Cheesemakers are a good team that should take advantage of Southridge, who is having a down year in terms of their usual success. I think this game has the chance to be close, but I’m not willing to predict that.
