Eight players who were previously ranked didn't just hold form.

They jumped up our rankings into either notable new spots or way up the board. None of it was done on a whim.

All eight are players who had great 2022 seasons and then proved the first part of their junior year was going to be even better. Four of them are now in our top 10, and all are parked inside the top 40.

For good reason.

[player_tooltip player_id='241044' first='Finley' last='Polk'] QB, Northwestern (Up one spot)

One spot? Yes, we're absolutely notating this one because it puts the Trojans' junior into the overall top 10. Polk is exhibiting a steady climb in the rankings because he continues to produce. Case in point: Through five games, he's ahead of pace for his per-game averages in nearly every passing category from his lofty 2022 figures while already reaching his rushing totals in yards and touchdowns from all of last season. Polk isn't going anywhere any time soon.

[player_tooltip player_id='464881' first='Jayden' last='Sellers'] WR, South Florence (Up three spots)

Opposing teams decided to put a bunch of their eggs into the Stop Sellers Basket. It has shown some, as the junior receiver has been held to a less-than-expected 18 receptions for 225 yards and a single touchdown. No problem. The Bruins have found a way to get the ball into Sellers' hands via direct snaps, traditional handoffs and end arounds. He's used those to add 307 rushing yards and six touchdowns through five games. Not enough? He returns kickoffs and handles the punting duties, too.

[player_tooltip player_id='272699' first='Da'Marion' last='Coe'] DB, Hartsville (Up three spots)

Coe followed Sellers right up the Top-10 ladder to No. 4 overall because he is arguably the most influential player on the Hartsville defense each and every snap. The third-year starter (yes, he opened up on varsity as a freshman) has used the first five games of 2023 to put up 46.5 total tackles, a pick, a tackle for loss and a couple pass break-ups. The strong safety also plays a ton of special teams and has a kickoff return touchdown on his resume this fall. Coe can flat-out fly, so if he shows up on offense during a crucial spot, you've been warned.

[player_tooltip player_id='390438' first='Ramani' last='Bruton'] DB, Greenville (Up 19 spots)

There was no way Bruton (pictured) was going to replicate his six-interception sophomore season. It's just too much pressure, right? Oops. After Bruton opened the season with a pick against Dorman, he then showed he could absolutely go above and beyond last year's total by snagging three more against Mauldin on Sept. 8 and then another the following week against a good J.L. Mann team that was undefeated until that loss. That gives the corner 11 career interceptions to go along with 34 tackles in 19 varsity games. We think that's pretty darn good.

[player_tooltip player_id='809755' first='DJ' last='Gause'] DL, North Myrtle Beach (Up 51 spots)

Gause still has plenty of room for improvement, but he's starting to show in flashes what his coaches believed he could do in time. After just four games, he had 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery to go along with his 10.5 total stops. He seemingly know when to be proactive or reactive and should be able to help muddy up some of the upcoming region games against the some of the best Class 4A teams in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='605525' first='Marquise' last='Henderson'] RB, Belton-Honea Path (Up 58 spots)

We've known about Henderson forever. After all, he rushed for 892 yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman at BHP. Then, he came back last year and went for another 1,230 and 16. This year? He's already north of 1,100 yards in just five games. Of the 25 career varsity games he's played, he's accumulated 100-yard games in 18 of them, including all five this fall, when he's already had a 300-yard game and a pair of 200-yard games. Not so hard to see why he's already got eight Power 5 offers, huh?

[player_tooltip player_id='595702' first='Anthony' last='Addison'] DL, Sumter (Up 62 spots)

Like all players with Division-I offers entering their junior year, Addison has had a huge target on his back in terms of offensive game planning. He's often seeing a lineman and a tailback, or two linemen. And let's not forget that he's often lining up opposite left tackle. Addison has found ways to remain involved and still get into the backfield. He's ahead of pace for his sophomore tackles for loss tally (8.5), helped force a fumble and even returned an interception 70 yards for a score.

[player_tooltip player_id='605529' first='BJ' last='Montgomery'] RB, Gray Collegiate (Up 62 spots)

Montgomery is behind Henderson in our overall rankings, but not by much. Gray's season has been a whirlwind, but when the Eagles need yards, the junior running back is their best bet to make things happen. His 297-yard, four-touchdown (on just 15 carries) season-opener against defending Class A state champ Christ Church was an eye-opener to anyone who thought he couldn't best his 912 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns as a sophomore. Montgomery's star should have every chance to continue to rise come November.
