After a long offseason, I for one cannot wait to see some high-quality ball on the gridiron. Today, I wanted to take a look at the wide receiver position and which rising juniors could have a big fall campaign. These guys have shown plenty of potential on tape and I think are just getting started. They’re from different parts of the country and vary in frame & skill sets, but all have been contributors early in their high school careers. I will be monitoring their progress throughout the 2023 season.
As always, If you have someone you think I need to see, please DM them to me on Twitter at @hsfbscout!
Deion Moke Deion Moke 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Cumberland | 2026 GA 5’10” 160, Cumberland
A home run threat with the speed, tracking ability, smooth change of direction, and production of a big-time wideout. Moke is a fierce blocker who can bury defenders out on the perimeter. He’s got the vision and jitter to create explosive plays in space. He’s got a filthy 1-2 move to go along with a slick jump-cut.
Hunter Thomson Hunter Thomson 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Bow Valley | 2025 CAD 6’1″ 175, Bow Valley
Was limited to only three games last fall, but was a major factor for Bow Valley in them. Thomson showed that he’s a viable threat on all three levels of the field, he has the ability to win on the jump ball and is quite sticky as a perimeter blocker. With a full slate of games this fall, I think the tape is gonna be much more in-depth.
Koen Hubbard Koen Hubbard 6'4" | 185 lbs | DB South Delta | 2025 State CAD 6’3″ 180, South Delta Secondary
A lengthy outside receiver with the ability to climb the ladder, respectable speed after the catch, and the hand-eye coordination to adjust to throws behind him. Hubbard has the guts to go across the middle of the field, he’s a natural hands catcher and shows more than sufficient YAC ability. He did most of his work out of the slot in 2022 and was a major mismatch there for apexed linebackers.
Malakai Gleadall, 6′ 155, Football North
Gleadall has no issues adjusting on high targets or underthrows, he’s an adept return man who can give an offense good field position and has excellent balance after the catch. After a reception is hauled in he immediately tucks the football and looks to get vertical. He shows sudden feet & hands against press coverage and is extremely friendly to his quarterback on the scramble drill.
