ROEBUCK | On a night that saw coach Jake Morris' first win at Dorman, there was no secret to what the Cavaliers were able to do.

In a 34-13 win against North Augusta, Dorman did just enough through the air to open up room for a rugged running game. It played to the strengths of QB David Sorensen.

Sorensen (pictured) threw for 125 yards and a score, rushed 13 times for 44 yards and two more TDs, and provided a tough, physical jolt from the QB position that helped drive the Cavaliers.

"Him being able to show he can take those shots like that, that's huge," Morris said. "David's got an arm. He's a fighter, he's a winner, and I love the way he plays. And we played more in his wheelhouse. Against Greenville, we figured out what we could do and what we can't do, and this week we worked it."

Sorensen was effective from the start. He finished the first quarter 4-for-6 for 99 yards and a score, and threw for 115 in the first half. In the second quarter, he turned to the ground, with 33 rushing yards and a pair of scores that staked the Cavaliers to a 21-7 lead at the break.

"I think I played solid," Sorensen said. "I missed a floater over there that would've been a touchdown. I missed a throw on the goal line that would've been a touchdown. I played alright, but I'm still not where I want to be right now."

On his second rushing touchdown, Sorensen waltzed into the endzone untouched. He gave plenty of credit to the guys up front.

"That was all my offensive line," he said. "That's all them. When it's that open, it's easy."

Airing It Out

[player_tooltip player_id='1395046' first='KD' last='Hainsworth'] had a big night for Dorman, with three catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. He showed off his athleticism with a nifty stutter-step on the sideline on his first reception of the night, freeing him for a 60-yard score down the home sideline. He narrowly missed a couple big plays early, with two balls that would have gone for long scores just out of reach.

Defense Does It

Dorman put the game away by forcing a pair of late turnovers. Leading just 21-13, Terrell Edwards returned a fumble 17 yards for a score to give the Cavaliers a little bit of breathing room. On North Augusta's next drive, [player_tooltip player_id='1144090' first='Brannon' last='Teamer'] picked off a pass and returned it 49 yards deep into Yellow Jackets' territory, setting up George Olley's two-yard score that put the game away.

Strong Ground Game

For North Augusta, [player_tooltip player_id='595703' first='Beans' last='Hunt'] showed flashes of the talent that earned him all manner of attention in Georgia. He had a nice 14-yard run in the first half that would have gone for 80 but for an open-field trip. In the second quarter, a bruising 16-yard run to the 3 set up a Yellow Jackets' TD. Hunt finished with 95 yards on the ground, and did a lot of his damage when North Augusta switched to an option look midway through the first quarter. Fellow RB [player_tooltip player_id='402503' first='Michael' last='Doe'] rushed for 69 yards and a score, while QB [player_tooltip player_id='1031336' first='Corey' last='Tillman'] accounted for 49 rushing yards and a touchdown.
